Ok, so obviously this thread will not apply to everyone.... I was wondering if it is still ok to Deadlift and Squat, if you are susceptible to hemorrhoids. I assume that very heavy singles are not a good idea, but what about higher reps and slightly lighter weight?

Obviously didn't read the FAQ and stickies, and TMI, dude.

The problem isn't that you are lifting weights, the problem is that you are straining too hard when you take a shit. Try eating more fiber.

I've had hemorrhoids multiple times before (just wait till you young guys get older). For me, no issues with squatting or deadlift. The only issue is when I'm straining too hard trying to take a shit. So I would recommend more fiber & relaaax on the john.

Thanks so much for your advice. It was very very helpful.... I did read the FAQ a while back. I apologize if I didn't read it properly or have since forgotten what was in the FAQ. Thanks, anyway.

You guys are a couple of uptight pussies.

It's ok to lift heavy, though it's probably better to consult a doctor.

Ok, might as well keep this rolling if that's the non-pussy thing to do. Wouldn't want to be a pussy and follow the rules. I'm sure it'll be fun to open the floodgates for all everyone to use the S&C as the place to discuss their scraped elbow, their hangover, their sore legs, or their upset tummy.

So here's an answer to the TS's question and a bump:

Quit letting your boyfriend put it in dry. And thanks for the great topic.

I would maybe avoid squatting and deadlifting whenever you have a flare up. As a guy who has had the roid rage before, I can tell you that it's best to find a way to control it. I have a smoothie every night before bed which really helps with keeping a regular digestion schedule. I rarely ever get a flare up now. Roid rage fucking sucks.

How about a cream or ointment?

I got a roid so big I sometimes have to push it back in with my finger. It has never been a problem lifting.

What's really kewl is when it puts a gouge down the side of a really big log.

I don't know what has happened to this forum. I enjoy flaming someone who hasn't read the FAQ as much as the next guy, but what the he'll does hemmiroids have to do with discussing medical advice on training injuries. He's not asking if he should continue cleans after a shoulder dislocation. He is simply asking guys who squat and deadlift if those exercises can affect a hemorrhoid flare up. Which it can if you are squeezing too hard. But a focus on diet and not squeezing on the toilet will help. If I'm having a really bad flare up I will hold back on deadlifts and biking.

Cheez whiz you're turning into an annoying pedant. Shin splints have been discussed here numerous times, just like intra-abdominal pressure and hernias.

eh, if its a rule i see some things getting leniency but c'mon man this is ridiculous. sherdogs S & C is now discussing hemorrhoids.

Fine. Anything goes, let's discuss all manner of aches, pains, and ailments instead of on-topic subjects. Why should I interfere with the will of people so enthusiastic about hemorrhoids?

I'd say be careful what you wish for, but why bother. Long live S&I (sickness and injury)!

I can't tell if you're being serious or not. If you are being serious, then PWR is right...chill out a bit.

Are you on the juice, man? Geez...
