I am looking for a Printer. I want to be able to copy/scan, have color as well as being able to make decent quality photo prints.

Thing is, the printers themselves are pretty cheap, mostly under $100. The ink seems to be where they get you, though. What I want is a printer that also has cheapish cost per print.

Any help would be great

I don't know about color inkjet, but I was told by a smart IT guy that Brother is good and cheap and reviews I read also indicate good quality and cheap. I have a Brother all-in-one laser and so far so good. Toner at Amazon is way cheaper than local brick & mortar stores.

I'm not buying another HP. I had a HP inkjet in college that broke. I had a HP all-in-one color inkjet that also broke something inside where I can't print but can scan and the scanning function is so buggy. It lets you flatbed scan multiple pages into one PDF, but it often flakes out on a page where it's initial scan will show stuff, but the ultimate preview scan shows blank and will not proceed so you have to close the program and can't salvage the previous pages scanned. Basically you have to scan and save each PDF page separately just to be safe.

Check out some office supply stores, after the new year, for some clearance or even open box items.

I got this printer at staples last year, for $60 on clearance. The thing has been incredible. I have also found that generic ink, has worked pretty well. I bought a 20 pack(4 full changes of ink) for $7.

I was looking at these printers to be honest.

seems as though Canon has the highest cost per print. While Kodak seems really cheap.

Wow, will check out Staples again. That is a pretty good deal.

Also don't be afraid to try new brands. I was always a HP printer guy, but my Canon blew it away. I also like that each color uses its own ink. I find it saves me a lot of money, especially when you use the generic ink.

Check here too from time to time.

True. I am not afraid of trying any brand, as long as it isn't some no name. I just thought that ink would get me, esp with Canon.

I am checking out that site now:D

Good lord that printer is 400 bucks! Hope I can find it for $60 at staples.

Yeah I got a really great deal. I was actually just going in there to buy ink for my 6 year old HP ink jet, and it was going to cost $70, so I decided to look for a nice all in one to upgrade(and hey they do come with half full ink!). I got a $400, all in one, well reviewed, name brand printer for less then a new ink cartridge. I thought it had to be a mistake, or refurbished model or something, but it was just one of those random great deals.

When the new series lines come out, the big box stores are pretty much obligated to put out the latest and greatest model, and often can't even have the old models display on the floor, due to layout restrictions. So make sure you check out all the tags and not just what is displayed. Mine was the only one in the store, and wasn't displayed. Good thing I was using the Google Goggles app to check all prices(most the big box stores will price match, even if it's amazon)

I also really recommend Canon. I use the all in one for my small business, and do everything from photo printing, to copies, and everyday printing. The thing has worked great. The generic ink(which I've heard mix reviews about) has for the most part, worked great, and the savings is insane.
