Heavyweight might be the weakest it's ever been

This dumb narrative comes up every other day. I think we got it. You dont like the UFC's current HW's. So stop
giphy.gif

I like them. I'm pointing out how unproven they are. We have two ancient veterans who rarely fight and a bunch of new guys who we don't actually know how good they are.

I knew more about JDS and Cain by the time they reached the top of the division than I do about Pav, Aspinall or Almeida.

HW has been pretty bad for a long time now
LHW isn't much better at this point either
LHW is pretty depressing now :( Crazy how that was one of the best divisions by far once upon a time

I think the Tim Sylvia era was a comparably weak time for UFC's HW division.

Seems fine to me. There's some solid contenders and we have a few exciting title fights on the horizon.

Because all three have breezed through their opponents without showing their full arsenal?

tell me you never heard of Bo Jackson without telling me you've never heard of Bo Jackson.
I've never heard of Bo Jackson.

Just googled him.

He played football.

Thank you for proving my point and thank you for coming to my TED talk.

The HW division has historically been shallow.

Its actually interesting right now

It's pretty fun right now. Several contenders. I wish it was more active but it's certainly better than previous years.

Doesn't say anything about whether he can stand with Pavlovich, Gane or even Blaydes.

I just rewatched the Volkov fight and yea, Aspinall is really good. He was piecing him up standing before running a clinic on the ground. His speed on the feet is highly impressive.

the 5 yrs after Strikeforce folded was the best its ever been.

Cain
JDS
Carwin
Brock
Hunt
Mir
Stipe
Barnett
Alistair
Werdum

there were easily 10 guys who would be champ now.

WW, BW, MMA is walking backwards but people will say we're witnessing the best generation ever, lol

It's kinda funny as after I responded to you I saw the threads saying Leon/Colby was official by now. So WW had moved foward in the minutes in between lol.

But yeah, the division is still ridiculous. I keep thinking Colby/Mas was this spring alongside Leon/Usman so it's not that bad, but then am reminded Colby/Mas was last spring and yeah, it's a clusterfuck.

You do know that the current champion is Jon Jones right?

Remove steroids, heavyweight is the worst division
