Looks like the entire Heavyweight Division Kickboxing is already wiped out by Rico "The King" Verhoeven,i think it's time for Glory some new heavyweight talent that can go toe to toe with Verhoeven.

I think kickboxing is dying in general, I've never understood why this material art never got the pays and credit it deserved.

Just no. There's more paying kickboxing going on than ever before. In most cases you can actually watch it too if you want to :o

Don't think kickboxing is dying either, the epicenter has just shifted.

Is the Badr Hari fight actually happening?

I think Badr would have been a bad match up for him in his prime but he's a shell of himself these days unfortunately

They just signed Londt. And next is Wilnis to challenge the champion.

Dominant champion = its dying? lol Sounds like the guys who always hated Lennox Lewis and the Klitchkos. The interesting thing about HW kickboxing is how it will be affected by the rise of Kunlun and WLF.

The problem is with glory, they are not really into contract new goods prospects or good names outside the organization.

After Glory born and bought its showtime, they bring all the elite fighters and majority names on kickboxing world, the problem is it was like 4 years ago....

Everyone can see about it,a really big part of glory fighters still to be ex Its Showtime fighters, and that is nothing bad on it,the bad thing is because glory is not bringing more names outside the ex Its showtime fighters.

Just look like glory rankings or retired kickboxing stars who glory have or had and used to be Its Showtime main guys(Aerts,Schilt,Spong,Saki,Amrani,Holzken,RvR,Ilunga,Grigorian Brothers,Groenhart,Ghita,Manhoef,Levin) and many many other names...

Glory need to bring more fighters, that is why kunlun is being the thing, they are bringing good kickboxers who people who would want to see and they are doing amazing matchups,Glory just contracted a little number of fighters since 2012,most of the stars are gone,it is time to intensify about hire new fighters, there are a sea of good kickboxers outside glory who dont have the biggest purse ever and can do amazing fights,it counts to HW division too

From all martial arts categories prospective, kick boxing has its own class & charm. I think its time to take some steps to strengthen the culture of kick boxing.

Except that Kunlun is just burning money, probably used as a money laundering organization for the rich, and glory has reported financial concerns

No way Kunlun is burning money, they are havin pretty good numbers on TV and attendance,a different thing about Glory and his shows in USA,they are doing less money than they do in shows in europe promoting much better cards with incomparable attendances

They're losing money alright. That's not the long term plan obviously :)

Difference from early Glory is they're not banging their head into a US market that's already ~at full capacity. Kunlun has shown growth year to year and the market is still very much growing.

Yes they are, they sell the televising rights to only one Chinese company with an extremely low price of around 1 million dollars, other than that and some bullshit stock float, some sponsorships and their ticket gates they have nothing else, and in the near future pay per view is just not gonna happen in China, which is what matters to them

I guess when they begin to improve the level of Chinese fighters that could get the Chinese public hooked, but that's gonna take time and we'll see if they can make it that long

2 or 3 at this point. Any source for the ammount?

Gyms, apparel, licensing their brand, international tv rights etc.

They already have a few guys who can hang with the best and they have tons of Sanda champions who can walk into KB and already be mid level fighters. Plus all they really have to do is survive to the decision and they will usually get it lol

Kickboxing is definitely seeing a boom like it did in the 80s I just hope it is here to stay. I know it never went but with the WKA and PKA and ISKA in the 80s with Maurice Smith and Don Wilson and Jean Yves Theriault among others it was huge state side. Obviously K1 was massive in Japan but States and Canada and what not it is definitely seeing a big boom. Even here in Canada Journey Fight series holds tournaments and winner gets 20 grand that is HUGE for Canada scene lol and for sure a sign of growth

I'm big on Kryklia but he definitely isn't ready for Rico yet, if ever, who knows.
