@Dragonlordxxxxx I saw an article the other day that Mann submitted a script finally. Anybody else want this git made? If casted properly this could be amazing. I bought the book on opening day, and it was FUN.
Maybe @Twototango can make poll about this ?

The new gladiator is AWFUL. But I'm betting the script is as well .
If proberly casted( which won't be easy LOL) I think Heat 2 could be Mann's legenendary swan song.

I am part way through it. Lots of jumping around on different timelines and I hope they don't try de-aging cgi.
Adam Driver rumoured to be young Mccauley and Austin Butler to play Chris.

Lots of action in the book so it could be good but it sounds like they have been reluctant to finance it which bothers me and often results in it straying from the director's vision as it gets pulled in different directions.

It has potential though and it's the only film I'm waiting on! Hell if I win powerball I'll finance the fucking thing for him lol

Its an awesome finish, but yeah I hear yah as far as the funding thing goes. But I can't help but think if they give Michael Mann his casting choices and budget, he'll knock it out the park. But it's hollywood, so they'll probably sell the IP to Disney because FUCK anything cool ever happening again.

Except that first Gladiator is a joke of a movie, while Heat is really good.

3 different time lines frim memory...before heat is referenced, then after heat ( Sheherilis surviving/Hanna still chasing other bad guys etc). It jumped around a lot and was annoying but there is no certainty the movie would need that.
I did hear talk of de-aging and cgi though, which I hope they avoid.

I haven't finished the book though whereas it sounds like others here have.

There is plenty of action for Mann to pick from though.
