Like maybe the kid was never there?
It sounds like it. I am honestly not sure what happened. I read that she called out to the kid during the 911 call but the kid didn't respond. It does make sense though because apparently the child is a toddler.

I know women get kidnapped but it is more of a creep trying to get a drunk chick or whatever. This story is a bit odd to me.

That's fucked up. Looks to me it was big set up to abduct young women in particular.

Sigh...

Here's the problem I have:

Other than the obvious - a woman being abducted (I'm assuming killed). A lot of criminals think on a micro scale. Thinking about temporary reward and small scale greed. Now the question is this: is this the kind of world you want to live in... even as a criminal?

Now in the (unlikely but still possible event) that the friend on the line sees an abandoned kid who needs help, what do you think her first thought will be... "I need to stop and check on him" or "I'm gonna keep going and not risk it because of what happened to Carlee"?

These asshole bad guys also have kids, nieces, nephews, etc. who may need help one day, they just discouraged that many more folks from ever helping a stranger. Fostering an environment of mistrust for their offspring and kin.

Especially repulsive that a fuckin' child was used in this.

It's a rapist and murderer we're talking about here, of course he doesn't care. 70% of sexual offenders either have antisocial personality disorder (psychopathy) or narcissistic personality disorder. If we narrow it down to only serious sexual crimes, e.g. rape, we're likely closing in on 100%. Both disorders have in common that they view other people as essentially objects that exist for their own gratification. Narcissists are the milder ones, they're mostly interested in exploiting you for narcissistic supply while giving nothing in return. Because they believe themselves to be special and superior to others, they don't engage in any social reciprocity. In this case it's almost certainly a psychopath, narcissists might exploit someone but they don't typically murder people. A psychopath would be looking at how they could sexually exploit their nieces and nephews, if there's an opening of some kind they can take advantage of, if they're into that. They DGAF about stuff like that.

A woman spotted a child wondering on an expressway and pulled over to help him. She called the police and then a friend as she stopped. The friend reports she heard the woman ask the child if they were okay, then her screaming, and then background noises on the expressway. Her car and phone were found at the scene with no trace of her or the child. Truly chilling.

Sounds like the kid was a decoy maybe?

Either way that whole scenario is fuckin crazy, I hope they find her alive.
Judging from the circumstances I'm afraid that might not be the case :(

Sounds like a starter perp to me, he will come to regret letting her loose (I hope)....Maybe not, but I hope details come out either way.

Wonder if she was trying to pull off some scheme, and then got cold feet.

This movie was hilarious and kind a legit scary. Don't see that combo a lot

Glad she wasn't murdered. Pretty wild she turned up alive barring this wasn't some weird hoax

they say that when someone is missing after 48 hours, there is a slim chance that the person is still alive. luckily she is alive. i still wonder what happen to the child that she helped and where was she?
