I have the Twins open face headgear for grappling (Twins Open Face Grappling Headgear from Title MMA) and it feels very hard. My friend just got the Title Platinum and it feels much softer compared to my Twins. I was MT sparring with it on(normally don't) and it felt like the punches were landing much harder than when I didn't wear the headgear. It felt fine when we were doing ground work w/ strikes, but on my feat it's another story.
I've heard that thai made headgear is usually harder than what US companies produce. Is there a noticeable difference or is just me? One thought that popped into my head was if the lack of sweat on the surface of the headgear made a difference. I've been intending to pick up something with more coverage for my face for MT in the near future anyway. This is my first pair that I've used sparring so I can't compare it to anything else. Is it a bad thing if the headgear is too hard/soft? Or is it just preference?
