This is really very simple.

If someone wants to do it, they should go for it. Nobody fucking cares, knock yourself out. I have no disdain or hatred of non-binary people (Taylor is a super awesome character on Billions haha) or of anyone who feels the need to put pronouns in their signature or wherever else they want them. They can tattoo them onto their foreheads, none of my business. And I'll do my best to remember to use the ones they want to be called.

If it ever gets to the point where there's pressure for everyone to do it...fuck off. I'm not playing that game.

When this thread was initially created it I replied that I hadn’t seen this. In the two years since it has become entirely common. Not so much in my business life where people are a bit more sensible. But my kid’s schools are full of teachers who virtually signal this way. Which is kind of disturbing

It's every where. Not sure what these folks are talking about but one quick peruse on social media should show you people doing this on their accounts. Also it's a given that this is pretty common in the world of academia.

I couldn’t agree with this more. Who the fuck cares. You know, some people want to be considerate of someone’s else identity's so they add that silly line. No company is going to force you to identify your gender and if they do then you are probably working for the wrong company.

They are authentic in that they care about another person and how they identify themselves and that this isn’t for attention. They want someone who might not feel accepted based on the pronoun they use to feel safe with that co-worker.
