Most of the more modern ones are a mixture of water and padding, the pure water ones where you feel like you're on a boat aren't really common anymore.

Believe it or not I lost my virginity on a waterbed when I was 16

That was in 2010 so it's been a while. Never seen one in person since then

I had one as a teen and rebought one when I lived in my 2nd apartment. It's interesting. I like how you could heat the water so in the winter time, it felt really nice. The downside was that it was extremely heavy and if you have to move, you have to rent a pump to drain it. They also aren't super firm and don't support your back well.

I loved the wavy feeling but yeah, it was more for novelty than being a good sleep and supportive. There used to be water bed stores too and I don't know of a single one now.

Once when I was like six sleeping over a friend's house. I remember it being awful, and I barely slept at all. In hindsight I don't know why I just didn't sleep on the floor instead?

They were very comfortable. Even as someone who liked a good old fashioned spring mattress. I even liked them more than those memory foam ones which I think are overrated.

I had a horndog uncle, he had a lot of dirty mags that I use to see, he had a water bed, I thought that was the main purpose of one, to have dirty sex on those beds....... they seem horrible to use.
