Has there ever been a win in the UFC by Wrist Lock ?

Wrist locks are usually best used on grappling noobs, but they can be annoying at higher levels. Probably not finishing a skilled opponent with it though.

Frank Mir got this sick armbar from a wristlock-like position.

Also, there have been several Americanas, which is sometimes referred to as a top wristlock in catch wrestling
I actually use this bicep crank it's a great move for dummys especially

This is more of a shoulder lock. After this fight happened, it got the name Mir lock, and we all used it. Then people got wise to it, and it slowed down. I still get it from time to time.

Or even just MMA in general have you guys ever seen that before ?

I was watching an instructional on wrist locks and it got me thinking about if it's ever happened before in an actual MMA fight.

No, you let that shit break when the match is important even in bjj and judo. Same with ankles. They heal quickly and usually fully

This. sure you're not gonna snatch a wrist lock when fists start flying, but they can be using in grappling exchanges (without gloves). can use it to keep someone on the defense or distract them. one more tool to have

i was reading the other day about the idea of using joint locking martial arts (like Chin-Na) as a counter to standard grappling.

I think that counts as an armbar

after 2 mins

Technically - fight finder does have it as a wrist lock.

Specifically - i think it was a ulnar wrist lock, common in hapkido etc. It's a really painful lock when put on correctly.

Here's an actual gracie breakdown of the lock, real life picture of rener and the other one...

so it's a wrist lock with additional pressure applied to the arm via a modified arm-bar ?

I'm probably not understanding it very well, but if it's the arm-bar that makes him tap not the wrist lock, who makes the call on what to put on their record? I'm presuming they don't ask for the opinion of the fighter who tapped, which makes it subjective.

I seen my black belt friend tap 7 people in row once wrist lock blue belt and up to brown but he train many years u can do this many position even standing

They work but u got to practice and for most it to pain to practice

U scream before u tap some cry from pain

Also MMA gloves make it easier not hard to get more thing to grab harder pull out

z formation small circle ju jitsu
