Has Palhares ever explained why he doesn't let go after a submission?

For everyone interested, he fought a no-gi BJJ match against Gary Tonon. Another leglock specialist but way smaller. It was on Polaris Pro 3 last weekend:
Very nice technical battle

Yes he is, can't wait to see him at the EBI 6 open weight later this month! Too bad Cyborg abreu and Galvao cancelled. I still hope keenan cornelius will step in so we can see Keenan vs Tonon once again.

He's just not a very bright guy and it's translates I bet into being a terrible training partner and competitor.

I honestly believe he legitimately enjoys hurting people and finds satisfaction in ruining fighters knees.
The combination of not being mentally right and the way he grew up is most likely the reason why the way he is.

I think he just gets lost in the moment, and when ur Palhares u can handle one moment at a time.

I think i read somewhere that most of times he doesnt feel the dude taping.

He has no respect for his opponents and wants to hurt them. can't think of many other reasons

There really wasn't much of a size difference at all.

Uh yes there was.. Tonon usually walks around at 165-170 as he said in an interview. He said that if he would do MMA he would probably fight at Featherweight. Since Palhares cuts a lot to make 170 and this fight was even at 183 pounds, I would say there is a HUGE size difference. Probably 20 plus pounds and Tonon not at his leanest.

Excellent match....wondering why he didnt take the twister with 1:30 left.

Seriously it just seems like a really jackass thing to do and I wonder how he got so skilled with that kind of behaviour if he also did it during practice
part of it has to do with Murilo Bustamante vs Matt Lindland. Bustamante is his coach.
