With Floyd retired, PBC bleeding money and HBO cutting their budget it seem like MMA (UFC) is the bigger sport right now. Especially after selling 1.5 million PPV's. I would have to say boxing is bigger globally though.

That's way too much of a blanket generalization

I would say the average person talks more about and is more interested in the average UFC title fight, Ronda fight, conor fight, etc.

But a Floyd fight would still outsell anything else

Fuck it, I vote yes

It's hard to say. Boxing is for the poor and uneducated, MMA is for the middle class and college-educated. The latter may not outnumber the former, but they have more expendable income which may lead to the former having to cut budgets. Their fans can't afford the product.

I dunno, it mostly seems to be about star power.

Right now mma has the slightly bigger stars with Floyd gone, but that could change.

Globally boxing is definitely still bigger

The common person doesn't really give a shit about boxing.. It's a money generating show located primarily in Las Vegas for the big wigs or vacationers to throw money down on when they are Casino'ing

Yes, MMA is far more popular than boxing now...

It does not generate the revenue that boxing does however.. so it doesn't seem that way.

Floyd's last ppv against Andre Berto sold 500,000 buys. 3 of the last 4 UFC ppv's sold over 1 million. If Floyd was to make a come out of retirement and face the right opponent that could be huge though.

I want to say a Floyd GGG fight could be massive, but GGG didn't seem to draw shit in his ppv outing.

I'd say so... I don't know anyone who talks about boxing that isn't Floyd related but about everyone I know knows a little something about MMA/multiple fighters. But I don't know, commercially it seems like MMA/MMA fighters is/are definitely more advertised.

Nah, UFC is still fighting hard to be like boxing

They say they are trying to shake off the WWE image and be like boxing

Personally, I never hear anyone talking about boxing. Except the Mayweather Paquiao fight. Everyone all of a sudden became a life long boxing fan that weekend. I know quite a few people that watch MMA.

The general public seems to know more MMA fighter than Boxers right now. But at the same time, a lot of people seem so disconnected from MMA too. They hate the ground game of MMA and/or still appreciate "the sweet science" of boxing more still.

You can't get a good answer to this question polling sherdog. Bias much.

Here in NZ, its becoming more and more mainstream but Im not so sure its a good thing lol The fucking Rhonda and Conor effect
