With lower pay in sponsorship , etc

I don't think the current champions are displaying the level of MMA that I saw watching prime GSP, Silva, and even guys like Machida and Vitor in his prime had some beautiful MMA. Plus washed up old guys are making a ressurgance in Lawler, Maia, 80% of HWs.. I also sure as fuck don't see a smaller guy with the level of technique of a prime BJ Penn

I think MMA peaked like 5 years ago..

Tyron Woodley > Kelvin Gastelum > Johny Hendricks > GSP

    Michael Bisping > Anderson Silva

Jake Ellenburgers > Matt Brown > Wonderboy > Rory MacDonald > BJ Penn

    So no

Too many cookie cutter fighters now who try to mimic each other.

No, but you will get eras where the talent pool is lesser than a previous era.

That might be happening right now.

    Also, USADA.

Sometime trying to discredit Robbie's reign note that he's lost.

There was just a thread this morning about how Robbie should be considered the WW goat. It made the front page.

    It's Sherdog.

Every current UFC champion is a potential GOAT here.

multiple former lw champs would beat alvarez
GSP in his prime would beat woodley
anderson in his prime would easily beat bisping
    jones would (did) beat cormier
i think prime cain and prime jds (before cain beat him into a shell of himself) would beat miocic

on top of that, weve never had every single champ 145 and up have dominant losses in their semi-recent history (2-3 years). alvarezgot rekt by cerrone. woodley got whooped by rory. bisping has been dominated by rockhold and kennedy. cormier got son'd by jones. stipe had a close loss to jds but got KTFO by struve (though that was 4 years ago).

weve never had such a vulnerable stable of champions where every single one (fw and up) has been counted out. so yes, i think the top level has dipped a bit

but in all sports, there are lulls and peaks

    USADA isnt helping

You can do it the other way as well:

GSP > Jake Shields > Tyron Woodley
    Anderson > Vitor > Bisping

It was always like this. UFC fighters can't throw a punch to save their ass and when it lands they have no chins.
