Has MMA level actually gotten lower?

    With lower pay in sponsorship , etc

    I don't think the current champions are displaying the level of MMA that I saw watching prime GSP, Silva, and even guys like Machida and Vitor in his prime had some beautiful MMA. Plus washed up old guys are making a ressurgance in Lawler, Maia, 80% of HWs.. I also sure as fuck don't see a smaller guy with the level of technique of a prime BJ Penn

    I think MMA peaked like 5 years ago..

    multiple former lw champs would beat alvarez
    GSP in his prime would beat woodley
    anderson in his prime would easily beat bisping
    jones would (did) beat cormier
    i think prime cain and prime jds (before cain beat him into a shell of himself) would beat miocic

    on top of that, weve never had every single champ 145 and up have dominant losses in their semi-recent history (2-3 years). alvarezgot rekt by cerrone. woodley got whooped by rory. bisping has been dominated by rockhold and kennedy. cormier got son'd by jones. stipe had a close loss to jds but got KTFO by struve (though that was 4 years ago).

    weve never had such a vulnerable stable of champions where every single one (fw and up) has been counted out. so yes, i think the top level has dipped a bit

    but in all sports, there are lulls and peaks
