Has MMA level actually gotten lower?

I don't think the current champions are displaying the level of MMA that I saw watching prime GSP, Silva, and even guys like Machida and Vitor in his prime had some beautiful MMA. Plus washed up old guys are making a ressurgance in Lawler, Maia, 80% of HWs.. I also sure as fuck don't see a smaller guy with the level of technique of a prime BJ Penn

weve never had such a vulnerable stable of champions where every single one (fw and up) has been counted out. so yes, i think the top level has dipped a bit

but in all sports, there are lulls and peaks
