I see why some would think so.
Some fans think it's weaker b/c Jones is gone. And therefore that makes it less interesting. I can see why.
Other fans find the more competitive nature more interesting. There's more parity, now that Jones is gone, and therefore that makes it more interesting. I can see why.
This happened in 125 when DJ and then CCC left. Suddenly there was a vacuum, and many found the prior dominance stale and the new lifeblood interesting, even if they could admit that the skill was a step down. There's a strong argument it also happened at 170 after GSP v Hendricks (but this is not as apples-to-apples as the 125 comparison).
I don't think it's more interesting because Jones left though. Jones had trouble against tall guys like Reyes or Santos. I think Hill, Ankalaev or Jiri wouldn't have been easy match ups. Current LHW is really underestimated
