I was reviewing the tape recently and I was astounded by the fact that Topuria has knocked unconscious 7 UFC opponents which is a crazy stat to own. The abbreviation acronym is a term used loosely but Topuria
Claims the stat with authority. It’s unheralded. Who even comes close to this stat which is really emphasized by Ilia’s measly 17 career fights in the UFC.

A lot of people say Gaethje hits hard and I don’t doubt he does. But he’s barely knocking people down let alone slept. But with Ilia it’s easy to see how technicals make a big difference. There is no fat on Topurias punches.

Maybe they should include the stat KU for’ knocked unconscious.’ I’d use it immediately. In fact I already do. By the way… Topurias last three opponents, all heavy names, knocked silly. It’s because he’s able to ‘combinate’ (autocorrect tried to protest but I wasn’t having any of it) his punches

You will see

I feel sorry for you fools who fail to combinate. You’re missing out

Some people here actually believe Conor and Costa have KO power and cannot make a difference between a TKO and a KO, so probably no, it has not been discussed.

Yes, it is quite amazing.
Ilia trains very well and knows how to use rotation to punch.
Before UFC, he was more of a submission guy. Only one KO.
9 fights in UFC and 6 pure KOs.
Zero TKOs in his entire career.
He couldn't finish Zalal, who was never finished, and Emmett, who is a durable fighter and was only KOd by Stephens with an elbow.

I had to check - he has 6 KO’s in the UFC, not 7.

Conor definitely had power at 145. He was regularly hurting guys with straights requiring little windup. Topuria’s power is definitely on another level though. His technique and combination setups also enable him to land shots that his opponents can’t see coming, and those are the ones that most commonly erase consciousness. The Volk, Max and Herbert KO’s were all combination setups while the Charles KO was a perfect Soviet hook counter. Beyond the obvious power, there’s real precision.

Conor got KO power. He laid out Aldo and that is 145. He fought 95% at 145. Dropped Dustin hard. Knocked out Buchinger pretty hard. He does have 1 hitter quitters.

Now Costa never ever. Lammest KO artist. Got 1 knee to the head KO. Everyhing else punches in bunches. He dropped Yoel. Anyone else ? Doesn´t even have a knockdown let alone KO. His power is solid. But he´s not a I touch you you´re dead guy.

combination of really good punch technique, accuracy and timing.
