I wonder if anyone else has seen this guy. Seems to be very talanted young man. He is fighting at 135 in a Russian organisation Fight Nights (1 out of 3 biggest Russian organisations).

So what can be said about him? He is Khabib's cousin. He is also training with Eagles MMA in Russia and often comes with Khabib to train at AKA. In Russia he is being trained by Khabib's legendary father Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov. He seems to be a lot more rounded then Khabib and has great striking (which is seen in 2nd and 3rd round in the video below).

  • Russian MMA Champion (amature MMA)
  • Dagestan Muay Thai Champion
  • 2х time North Caucasus regional Muay Thai Champion
  • Russian Muay Thai Championship medal (didn't find information on what place)
  • Combat Sambo World Champion.
In his MMA career he is undefeated with a record of 6-0.

His latest fight was against a Brazilian fighter Shyudi Yamauchi (Goiti Yamauchi's brother)
with a record of 16-9.

Omar completely outclassed a much more seasoned Shyudi in every department and looked impressive in my opinion.

Here's a post fight interview in english:

Here's what Khabib has to say about him. Notice that he is pretty critical of him, the same way his father is about him. Even when Khabib wins, his father critiques him:

Here's a footage from AKA, him agains DC:

What do you think? Is it to early for the UFC? Maybe the new contender show?

UPDATED

People in the thread requested to find the other fights with Omar so here we go:

FYI: These fighter's are beginners just as Omar. His first fight against serious opponent is the Shyudi Yamauchi fight that is in the original post.

I think Mini Khalabib will do just fine. That whole region is blowing up on the MMA scene.

just wait til you see his cousins Ahkmed, Muhammed and Suleiman

I am watching this fight now and his striking is much better than Khabib's (even right now, never mind Khabib when he first entered the UFC), so that's interesting to see, especially if he's also got anything like the kind of grappling Khabib has.

Sure...I wonder who he could dethrone for us....Hmmsssssss...

That young and that accomplished, he will do very well in his MMA career.

He’s going to be an amazing fighter when he is a completed project.

The next one up from that group to do big things will be Islam. He’s going to be a slightly less dominant on the ground but a better version of Khabeeby soon.

I like this whole Dagestani explosion thing, I feel like it's definitely adding something to the mma world.

:D Are you for real about the other ones tough? Or are you just joking?

i was just joking. they are just extremely common names in the Islamic world. but id put $100 that he has a cousin named at least one of those.

Everything else is VIRTUALLY IDENTICAL

I think it's a more distant relationship but Said Nurmagomedov recently signed with the UFC in January. I'm guessing they are waiting for the Russian fight night card in September for his debut.

That would be crazy wouldn't it? But Khabib thinks that he has some work to do on that pat. He did show some ground skills in the fight.
