Has anyone ever tried to pressure Khabib?

Is this possible? Like basically cut the ring and get him to fight off the cage. I wonder if this would be a good strategy to beat him, since fighting moving backwards all the time is incredibly hard and he eventually lands TDs when he has you fighting that way. On the other hand if you're boxing him up against the cage there's a good chance he grabs you and reverses position and takes you down as well.

What yall think Sherbros

Pressure him will make getting the take down much easier for him

Pressure fighter vs Khabib will look like this...

once he fights someone that is strong enough to resist for more than 1 round we will see. if anyone can withstand khabibs pressure and cardio, and back him up its tony ferguson.

as far as backing him up right out of the gate though...... i dont see anyone that can at 155 right now

Even jds back up from cain.
AKA ya heard?

As with Maia, I often wonder why fighters don't train and plan to try and Guillotine him or possibly train and look for an Anaconda. He's left his neck out there plenty of times. Not as much as Maia does, but I don't care how skilled they are, it's worth at least trying if their neck is just given to you.

You get mauled either way.

He did fight a roided Tibau who is a legit BJJ guy and RDA who's also, in theory, high level BJJ.

I think it's just not that easy.

i agree. or if people actually tryed to grapple back and resist khabib that way. everyone looks like ngannou trying to stand up out of impossible positions.

instead of actually trying to get full guard, throw some elbows, maybe some sub attempts, try to sweep. im expecting tony to do all of these things and im fuckin baffled the highest level fighters are trying to skip standard grappling steps

I agree, but it's at least something fighters should look for. Someone just gives you their neck, why not go for it? It don't matter how skilled a fighter if you get those arms locked.

Tony will sub him in the championship rounds

Honestly not sure he would move backwards with you. He has a very specific style, and it seems he has the mindset of only doing what he knows, and that is to pressure like the terminator until he has his way with you.

I'd give Cody McKenzie a better chance against Khabib than most of these fighters, at least he would try to guillotine him if he just leaves his neck wide open for you.

I agree. But to actually have a good chance of locking it in against a grappler like Khabib, you gotta be extremely high level. To me, the only guys who could submit anyone and have been bad match ups for fighters with Khabib's style (Fedor and Cain for example) are Mir, Werdum and Maia.

A Maia-Khabib fight would be a grapple spectacle, but it'll never happen. Also, maybe maia is a bit too big.

True enough, but as good a grappler as RDA is, he doesn't really look for submissions. The one he had against Magny was the first in like five years. If I recall, he actually did try to Guillotine Khabib a couple of times, but always in a bad position, not when Khabib just left his neck out there.

I disagree. Any fighter routinely leaves his neck wide open, I don't think you have to be a top tier grappler to go for a Guillotine or even an Anaconda or a Peruvian Necktie. His neck is there, you lock it up, you got a good chance to finish, don't matter how skilled your opponent is, that's the point. Yet Maia for example just literally stretches his neck out there all the time with his arms on the ground and no one even tries it. Heh.

Tibau attempted 6 TDs and got 1.
