All Mellville films I’d recommend. Un Flic and Army Of Shadows are another 2 that are great. Samurai might be one of my least favourite out of his films tbh

Other films by different directors that got mentioned …Elevator To the Gallows and the Miles Davis soundtrack that goes with it = so cool, Rififi might be the best of the whole lot. The silent heist scene is just amazing cinema

If ya dig French crime check out Jacques Becker films. Le Trou, Casque d'Or, and Touchez pas au grisbi are as good as it gets imo.
