Has Ankalov ever dropped/KO’d anybody besides chinny Johnny Walker?

Of course, but you are at least knocking them down. Ank is eeking out controversial decisions against the ranked guys he fights half the time.

To be clear (for anyone reading this without context) Ank is an incredibly skilled MMA adapted striker. His technique is excellent, he has a lot of attacks and in general he's world class. Not in question. IMO he is not a natural hitter though and I think his body of work speaks for itself in that regard.

This should be an awesome fight.

I just think he's an incredibly safe and fairly boring fighter. People around here seem to think he's exciting for whatever reason when in reality he's had numerous stinkers because he prefers to eek out decisions.

It will be an awesome fight. One of those fights where I just HAVE to see what happens when their skill sets meet in the middle.

People think he's exciting? Who??

He's clearly very good. Elite, world class fighter overall. But exciting?

IMO every Merab fight for the past 5 years has been more exciting than Ank's last snoozer vs Rakic. At least with Merab or Belal (esp Merab) we can appreciate how ridiculous the cardio has to be to implement that style. That Ank vs Rakic fight was one of the most boring high level fights I've ever seen. And yes, Rakic holds plenty of blame but saying Ank is exciting...hell no. It doesn’t mean he's incapable of being in an exciting fight, but counting on him to be exciting is begging to be disappointed.

He should with his strength advantage over just bout anyone he fights . He got a guilly early when dry be tough to get out with that arm strength. He likely doesn't as it saps power from striking n wants to keep that maxi I'm but I think he should go for a guilly if early .. ... not against Ank tho unless no choice.
 
He doesn't have a great resume. Obviously very skilled and well rounded but the level of competition doesn't come close.
 
I watched 5 of his fights last night and wondered why folks would think hed grapple.

Hes an explosive striker and does so in combo bursts. Couldnt find a similar one that alex has fought, making this hard to bet.

He seems to have heavy hands but his style is quite passive. I don't expect too many punches to be thrown between him and Pereira. Ankalaev probably needs to step it up a bit on the offense though before those leg kicks start accumulating.

I feel like it'll be one of those fights where not much is happening, but everything that happens is meaningful, and potentially leads to a finish.
 
There seems to be a concerted effort by many on this board to build up Ankolev into some kind of unstoppable killer. They problem with that narrative is that the facts don t back it up.

I'm seeing the opposite. Many seem to think he's an overrated also-ran whose grappling advantage is a "myth" and that he'll get knocked out.

Not sure I've seen anyone label him and unstoppable killer. He's just a really great fighter. And he has a good chance to walk out as the UFC lightheavyweight champion tomorrow.
