The ref was restarting the fight for like 10 mins. If a ref ever deserved to be ko'd, it was this guy.

They're tougher than they look, some of these refs...

Now if you're saying unintentionally, like a fighter misses a flying knee and KO's a ref, I would imagine most non amateur refs are trained to stand in a way that is well out of range of a fighters strikes.

It was awkward but Yvel never got to separate to a required distance and was always closing in on the brake. Referee was saying something on the lines of: brake, brake,brake listen to me. And POW right in the kisser.
