Media Hardest hitting LW ever?

The hardest punchers don't drown and break people in all out wars, like Gaethje does.

They put them spark out with one punch like prime Gomi and Melvin.
i mean he’s done that plenty of times as well tbh

Can't remember all of his WSOF fights but he's only done it twice in the UFC against two of the chinniest fighters in the division's history. Barboza who was once badly hurt and dropped by a Cerrone jab and Vick who goes down every time a light gust of wind touches that chin.

Ever? I'd have to go with Gomi. The dude threw grenades from the hip.

Dude was a wild west gunslinger. Him faceplanting Tyson Griffin with a punch that started at his mid thigh is still in my top 5 UFC moments ever.

I thought it was obvious that it was Michael Johnson, he's a much less talented fighter but his prime he had dynamite hands that made him relevant in LW.

Everyone here seems to be making arguments just based on people being good fighters.

No they aren't, many people have rightly said people like Melvin Guillard and Jeremy Stephens.

Michael Johnson may be hot and cold (albeit mostly cold lately) but the dude has more top level wins on his resume than those two combined.

He KOed Poirier, and beat the likes of Ferguson and Barboza.

There's an argument to be made that on his day MJ is an elite fighter.

he slumps dudes

I actually think Justin's one punch power is a bit overrated. Sure, he caught Barboza perfectly on the chin, and Vick would get knocked out if you sneezed in his direction, but otherwise, the damage he has inflicted has been more of a volume deal over the course of fights.

I think there’s a difference also between one punch KO fighters vs fighters who’s punches hurt. Justin seems like the type of fighter that when he tags you it’s going hurt a lot versus just knocking you out.

There are different types of power for sure. There's the pure one hit, lights go out type power.

There's the Poirier type clubbing power that does a lot of damage and hurts but is more accumulative damage than the explosive fast twitch KO type power.

Then there's that weird concussive Mark Hunt type power where he didn't actually knock people out cold, but one big shot was still enough to daze people enough to render them defenseless. That "the lights are on, but nobody's home" type power.

Fair enough, he clearly hits very hard . I still wouldn't put him up there with a prime Gomi or Guillard though.

He's up there as far as modern LW punchers though.
i mean being the best LW puncher of his generation isn’t worth anything? i think he’s up there with gomi/pulver/guillard. not saying he CLEARLY hits harder or anything but he’s up there

so true, and that was when Diego was a pretty durable fighter
I think he had been training with Freddie Roach and possibly Manny. Like it was going to make a difference.

Exactly, and then there’s Justin’s power who falls in between Dustin and Mark Where mentally you are still there, but physically you are in too much pain. Each shot brutalizes your body but doesn't KO you

BJ has some power. So did Spencer Fisher just relied for on his wrestling. He hits like a truck though

Gaethje has slept like two people and one is in the hall of fame of glass chins in James Vick.

Gaethje obviously still hits very hard so I heard it bowlth ways but he mostly gets stoppages through a battle of nutrition b.

Gomi, Connor, Crazy Horse, Melvin Guillard etc are probably more pure, straight up power punchers than Gaethje.
I love a body-shot KO, and one of my favorites is Melvin absolutely folding Gabe Ruediger with a shot to the solar plexus
