Hard to imagine Rashad Evans was once LHW champion

Who has fallen harder, Rashad or BJ Penn?

You must be new.

Fighters decline. It happens to everyone.

He was dethroned by Lyoto Machida.

And ever since we have been in the Machida era. Infact Machida is still teh Champyun. And teh longest reigning champyon. ENEY TING IS POSSIBLE! I CAN DO THAT! YEAH!

Rashad lost the heart to fight after the machida KO. He hasnt been the same since.

That begs the question, what other former UFC Champions have been relegated to Fight Pass prelims?

Their durability and athleticism does, technique and fight IQ should improve with age but he keeps making beginner mistakes
He was never a great fighter IMO, just a good one in a weak era.

He relied on his speed and athleticism, which is why his decline is so extreme.

I still remember him dribbling Forrest's head off the canvas

He's been fighting pro for almost 15 years now. He had some great wins in his prime and was without a doubt one of the top fighters in the world for a short time. Not really hard to believe he was once a champion, judging by who his competition was at the time and where they were in their own careers.

Father Time is undefeated.

Suga Rashad had some elite level athleticism, top notch wrestling skill, and serious punching power back in the day. He's just lost a few steps athletically as he's gotten older, and his confidence as a fighter is completely gone.

Different strokes for different folks. Some guys used technique and fight IQ to get into the big leagues while others used pure athletism and hard work to find their way in.

You can't put people in neat categories.

I think he still had it until Jon Jones completely destroyed him. He acted like Jones was a child compared to him and then had nothing for him. Totally destroyed him mentally.

Hard to imagine anyone in their final version being really good in their prime. It's the end of a MMA career for Rashad. He isn't anything like he was. It can come to an ugly end like we've seen with Chuck, BJ, Vitor and so on.

It's almost like he forgot how to fight. I agree about the jones fight. Funny cause from day 1 he was calling Jones phoney.

did anyone see the embedded when cm punk said hi to rashad and rashad was very snippy? it was weird as hell

He went 6-2 immediately after losing the belt. Those 6 wins include outclassing Phil Davis, wrecking both Tito and Chael, plus beating Rampage and Dan.

There was basically a 2 year span of no fighting for him between demolishing Chael and losing to Bader (which began his current losing streak). An investigation of what he was going through during those 2 years would lead to a better answer than "he lost heart".

I saw I'm win the belt at Ultimate 2008, almost TEN YEARS AGO! Not hard at all.
