Technique Hapkido technique against jiujitsu grab (0:20)

Nope. You can yank it and injure your opponent (which would usually not stop a fight), but more often than not, your opponent will just pull his arm away and let go of you. Great kuzushi opportunity though.
Aha so it leads nowhere. Interesting... What do you think the Hapkido guy does after that? Tries it again? They literally have nothing else as you can see... its the only attack against the grab

It technically does lead somewhere. It defends the grab, which is the purpose of the move. It's just not really necessary to have a whole sequence after that. Most grappling styles use the exact same mechanics for grip breaks precisely because opponents let go when that happens.

- The 55/57 seconds one is the one that i've seen pulled a few times.

Come again?

A hapkido stylist who goes to the ground, which is where it will eventually go.. is going to get subbed like a white belt.

They have virtually no ground game in hapkido. Very patchy and idealistic. One or two moves. at best. I wouldnt be surprised if many schools dont have a curriculum for it at all. Certainly not "newaza"

No shit. Hapkido is not supposed to be a ground fighting style.

Thats why I made the thread about this defence to jiujitsu style context.
I thought the question was how legit the technique itself was, not whether it's a good idea in a jiujitsu (which?)style context.

The legitimacy is obviously tied to a jiujitsu context. Anything works on a drunk. My question is if a Hapkido guy can use that technique and then somehow beat a jiujitsu guy. or if hes just fucked.

In a jiujitsu match? Obviously if that was a great idea it would already be popular.
