The iron dome never had a 100 % success rate and if Hamas really fired 5000 missiles or something my guess is like a thousand would have probably hit targets.

Children are always the targets of war. Never not been the case. The USA is the only country ever to have the capacity to not kill children in war and yet we kill them by the hundreds of thousands. It is preposterous to think it isn't going to happen. If you love your kids, don't live there.

I wish I knew enough history and background to make sound conclusions based on the two prevailing and competing opions that Israel is :
A: Running a defacto apartheid state on the Palestinian people
B: Simply defending its country from hostile neighbors that want to see Israel destroyed

Whether it's one or the other or a much more nuanced situation, I'm not sure. What I am sure of is that some of the video coming out of the region is horrific and I wish I didn't watch some of it.

It's more like A and B feed off each other in a symbiotic perpetual engine of suffering.

I am rooting for Hamas but I do not think they can defeat Israel. I hope there is something guiding Hamas's decision making other than desperation(IE the hope that Israeli society will rise up).
