International law has always been an obvious joke, nothing new. Just look at how the US handled Nicaragua v US and the ICJ in 1986 over the Iran-Contra affair. Refused to follow the reparations order and denied the authority of the ICJ. Look at the handling of the Iraq War. The cat has been out of the bag for some time.

And it's not just the US. Russia and China treat them like a joke as well and dont agree to the ICC, cynically use veto power, commit human rights abuses as well as unilateral invasions and bullish border disputes.

International law is an extension of neo-colonial soft-power in which the victors of WW2 maintain power over weaker countries. It's not real law.

I strongly suspect he will still visit them and when he does and isnt arrested thats basically the death of the "international order", it won't have even the slightest credibility anymore.

Bit of a difference between Mongolia and the devolped western states who have been the big force proclaiming "rules based international order" for decades.

The credibility for that it pretty much in tatters now if this ICC ruling isnt followed by them.

It has been in tatters from the outset. Half of these countries vote based on aid and weapons access from the global powers, not principles. Most of MENA was willing to sell out Palestine before October 2023 happened, especially Egypt and Saudi Arabia. The UN is just bs and theatre.

Hanging hopes on the international community for support was just desperation.

I'd agree theres always been a strong element of self interest involved but what's happening with Israeli recently makes that so plainly obvious it kills any credibility stone dead.

The US espeically as some kind of "moral world policemen" is just a laughable joke now which has no credibility outside of the western media bubble.

I guess for you and maybe some gullible left wingers, which have been calling every US president and Israeli leader war criminals for the past 30 years, without any consequence coming to them. Not understanding how much that doesnt matter in real/welt politik.

Any consequences for GWB for the "weapons of mass destruction", war and Guantanemo Bay detentions and torture?

GWB is now viewed as a nice guy who paints and plays footsy with Michelle Obama.

No consequences are coming from the ICC or ICJ. Maybe Israel itself might jail Bibi, but that's for other stuff.

What we've seen in the last year I think really confirms the criticism of Isreali going back decades, we've basically seen somewhat(still thousands of deaths) lower level ethnic cleansing speed up into full scale genocide when an opening presented itself.

That GWB and Cheney have been rehabilitated by #the_resistance shows you how "liberials" have shifted ever more towards being neocons.

The history of modern international law and its weakening is broader than MENA and longer than the past 40 years. There are a lot of genocides, complicities, war crimes, human rights abuses and massacres to go around. This is not a uniquely US/Israel issue. It's structurally built in.

The idea that Israel/US destroyed international law is just not reality
