The more I hear about this show the more and more glad I am that I am not watching it.

It reminded me of Tinkerbell and Peter Pan in Hook. That probably sounds terrible to you but I really, really liked it, I've liked Cortana in general.
I can see how fans of a game aren't going to like this show and I can't blame them, but I think it's generally pretty good. I've never played Halo so I don't have any of tha expectations I imagine are common.
I agree that him being without the helmet so much is terrible, especially in the final episode, not because I need him to be true to the game character but because it's so pointless and contrived. Give him a distinctive helmet, don't make him instantly killable in key situations.

What the fuck have they done to my beloved Halo!? I’ve been rereading the original trilogy of Halo books Fall of Reach(an introduction to the Halo universe and creation of the Spartan II’s. Follows key events leading up to Halo CE) and The Flood which is part mobilisation of Halo CE with some added perspectives of the human crew on the ring and also from the Covenant perspective.
My god these books are so much better than this show. It’s worse than The Witcher Netflix imo.

The show needs more tna and needs more battle scenes.
The humans are also made so fucking unlikeable, and the covenant pretty likeable. I'm not sure what is going on.
Basically it's a shitshow with 5 or 6 awesome scenes sprinkled across 7 hours.

I also have a bad feeling that the human Covenant lady will be the show's version of the Arbiter.
I mean they pretty much admitted to ignoring most of the source material. I have no issues with MC taking his helmet off (admittedly I'm just a casual Halo fan) but almost everything else is just oof. Jen Taylor is carrying the show.

When the producers announced they didn't bother to inform themselves of any of the source material they've basically admitted they're taking the Halo IP and using it as a skinsuit for the show they wanted to make.
So far I've heard...
*Obvious feminist agenda.
*Captain Keys & daughter are race-swapped.
*Masterchief takes his helmet off in the 1st episode and regularly doesn't wear it.
*He has a nude scene in which his ass is shown. (Feminists have no problem with male characters being sexualized)
*Fucks a female covenant spy. Guess they didn't have the balls to make it a male covenant spy.
Not planning on ever wasting my valuable time with this $10-million-an-episode shit.

It’s fine to have his helmet off plenty of other halo media have shown him as a child with no helmet on granted that is different to when he’s a spartan but still.
It’s more the stupid things they have inserted into the show. Silver Team is a poor excuse for Blue Team and probably only there for the “think for yourself” subplot going on with Kai. I don’t understand why they would pass on established and liked characters like Kelly Linda and Fred for two generic Spartans and Kai.

Also pissed off they removed the iconic king of the hill scene in the books instead for the chief just grabbing a kid from falling. How is that meant to demonstrate that the chief never loses?

the halo books are really good. 343 and paramount shit the bed with the new halo games and this shit show but at least the books are true to lore

I would like to read the books on Halo, since you guys have mentioned that they are really good. I'll see if I can dig a link up online somewhere to read them. I am finishing up the Three Body Problem series at the moment, on the last book Death's End.

The books are great they flesh out a lotta things left ambiguous in the games. They also add more depth to the lore.

Audible has the first 3 books in their catalogue if you’re into audiobooks otherwise Amazon has the physical copies and I think kindle too.
