Had a waiter confront me outside over a tip

You've literally said im a server? How dumb are you?

i never said you were a server. breakitdown did

in which case i also consider you to be a server because i put great stock in breakitdown's (vast) powers of analysis

Considering you're all still posting and not working it doesn't surprise me you can't afford to tip.

You just can't accept the truth. Treat people right, don't be a dick and it won't ever happen. People think servers are entitled and that's not true. We absolutely know when we give bad service and we know we don't deserve a great tip, however when we know we gave great service, went above and beyond, gave a great experience and get shafted simply because you "don't believe in tipping" it's game on. We didn't create the system, hell I don't even like the system but it's the system. You can't claim ignorance. You know we rely on tips and you know we make 2.13 an hour. If you choose to go out to eat then tipping will be involved. If you can't afford it don't go out. If you can afford it and just choose not to, your food is fucked. That simple. I do it all the time to repeats. Just the other day the dick hole that has stiffed me three times came in. He mentioned to his friend that he didn't tip me because he doesn't believe in it. I simply smiled and in my mind knew far in advance I had already had the last laugh the moment he took a drink of his soda.

You are right, as a safe fail they should be compensated minimum wage if they didn't make enough in tips. That being said how long would a restraunt keep someone who they had to pay more out of pocket for? Your argument fails in that very way. They aren't relying on the restraunt to make that up, all servers undoubtedly make more than minimum wage. It doesn't change the fact that we will remember you and we will fuck with your shit. Easy as fuck to remember those who don't tip because they are few and far in between. There is a major difference between leaving nothing and leaving 10%. I can at least see your attempt at 10% so I won't fuck with you later. If you fuck me over though, you will be eating it later no doubt. Even if I'm not your server we are close with our crew so I would just let whoever was helping you know I needed to give you the business for last time.

I make plenty of money or I wouldn't do it. I just fuck with the people who fuck me over. That simple. Your shit tip doesn't effect my income in any substantial way.

So if your really okay eating and drinking tainted shit semi regularly assuming you like certain establishments. By all means I hope you continue.

My income is right at 52,000 a year. I'm fine with that as a singe young guy.

@Breakitdown @The One True

This is the low level ilk we're dealing with here.

i think you are all wrong... waiter shouldn't ask for shit but you should have known it would be insulting to leave a $5 tip on a $200 bar tab. Are you slow in the head or something? lol. idiot

Unless the service was terrible all night, what you did was incredibly douchey.

This thread has truly opened my eyes to how scummy servants truly are. We literally have servants in here, talking about if you don't tip me (not mandatory), get ready for me to spit in your drink and shit on your food.

Disgusting, I'm never tipping again.

Funny thing is, these guys are like "yeah, I'm giving someone like that a $60 tip, that'll totally stop him rubbing his anus on my food". They behave like this because they're degenerates, not because you didn't tip them.

any time i'm at a busy club, there are dozens of people surrounding each bartender, with countless transactions going on. tips hardly even get acknowledged in that kind of atmosphere, you'll be lucky to get so much as a nod in gratitude

the notion that the bartender is going to remember a "good tipper" in near darkness and prioritize them from a sea of cheap club shirts and hair gel is a joke. they barely have time to look at you let alone make a fkin venn diagram of each person they serve. maybe being served one person ahead and getting two extra drops of alcohol (again these are huge maybes) isn't worth COLD. HARD. CASH

yeah, that's true. to me, the very fact that i get a drink from a bartender who is incredibly busy is enough to warrant a good tip from me. that is A LOT harder than going to some podunk bar that's empty and having the guy walk four paces to hand you a beer. i tip in both situations, but i'd tip a lot more for the former.

Fucking bum should get a job that doesn't rely on tips

Went to a restaurant with a few of my friends last night, just to grab a few drinks and appetizers, a place called BJ's.

We end up staying for about 4 hours, from about 6-10, and for the 3 of us our total ended up being almost $200 (mainly alcohol).

We usually try and go out once a month and every month it's someone else's turn to cover the bill, and this time it was my turn.

So, figuring that even tho it was $200, I figured it's not that fucking hard to bring out 3 damn drinks at a time and we only had 2 small appetizers. I only had $5 cash on me and decided that would suffice considering it was just mainly alcohol purchased.

So after I pay with my card, I leave the $5 on the table, we walk out and sit on the bench while my friends smokes a cigarette and we continue to catch up. The waiter comes out side a minute later in a frenzy, screaming about this and that and how I'm a cheap fuck and how I shouldn't go out to eat if I can't afford to tip and shoves me to the ground.

He ends up saying "$5 on a $200 bill is unacceptable and I should go fuck myself", and then he goes back inside. My friends ask if $5 is really all I left? And I said yes, and they said why didn't you leave a tip on the receipt with your card? So I guess they took his side in the matter and they talked me out of going inside the restaurant and complaining.

How much do you goes tip for drinks? Was I in the wrong?

Cliffs : Went out with friends
Drank a lot
Tipped $5 on $200 bill because mainly alcohol
Waiter tries to fight me outside
Pathetic. Terrible human being.

yeah, that is for sure true. if the guy had left no tip, at least the waiter could have logically thought, "oh, someone who doesn't believe in tipping. asshole". but i doubt the waiter would have confronted the threadstarter. the fact that the threadstarter left something implied that he understood the meaning of tipping, and went out of his way to show how little he though of the waiter's service.

fuck that POS. if he didnt like it, he could always get another job.

Yet you can't afford more than a $5 tip...
Did you not read the thread?

I could afford it, I didn't want to put it on my card and only had $5 in cash.

Or are you just a fucking idiot?

You must be another servant, lol.

Lol'ing hard @ the notion of giving someone $5 (which you aren't legally beholden to) would illicit/justify (to you) this confrontation.

Imagine dropping a couple of bucks in a corner panhandler's lap only to have them chase you down the street because you didn't literally give them enough free money.

This is the world servants, I mean servers live in folks. Simply incredible minds at work.

Good thing you did not a go back in and retip him.

fucker put his hand son you fuck him he got owned. The best part is he won't even see the vast majority of that $200 tip right? lol

should of complained still
