Had a waiter confront me outside over a tip

More obfuscating with rhetoric. You can wordplay all you want to justify and rationalize being a shitty person, but in the end, you're still a shitty person to the rest of us. Working as a waiter isn't a misfortune. Most of them are young people putting themselves through college dick head.

"You're a shitty person if you don't subsidize the wages of employees who want to make more $"

Talk about the height of immorality and abjection. This guy must have been a server.

well, all things considering, anyone who tips 20% is a savage that might as well swing from tree to tree

I used to tip legit in Europe, was treated like royalty as a result.

Still tip well in the US, but those cans definitely seem to expect it for the lightest amount of work possible.

I was a server. Is your shitty ad hominem supposed to be an argument? If you're such a high roller why are you so concerned with cheating people out of money?

real question is, why are you so beta you let a server push you down without retaliation?

You don't become a high roller by handing out money.

Exactly. In a perfect world one would leave $0 on this tab.

Lol'ing hard @ subsidizing some grubby server's income. Maybe they should pan handle and beg on the street during the break times since they seem to be so good at it.

Waiters in the US make their primary income on tips.

psychopath lol. a term thrown around at anyone who doesn't fall into the illusion of subjective morality, and its a false dichotomy.

humans are about 97% irrational. tipping because you think you're bing a good person and helping another out, thus changing the world or receiving good karma is an illusion.

the person you're tipping could be using that money for drugs, a gun, etc.. yet you create the illusion that you're helping someone less fortunate who's working hard and give them"the benefit of the doubt. its a fact that the majority of human decisions are irrational, aside from those that are analogous to our survival and basic problem solving skills.

for the record, I was a server in college

Yeah don't go out if you can't afford to tip properly. Appropriate tip for 200 is 40 dollars. 35 if you're cheap.

reality: adopting other people's misfortune as your own is an illusion.

reality: I can do whatever I want with my money in this country as long as its legal
reality: you don't have to adopt someone else's misfortune to be sympathetic to their plight.

The other reality is that people like you will never be convinced otherwise, so it's an action of futility to try and sway you. You abstain yourself of any societal expectations of how to conduct yourself in a normal setting, using rationale that only benefits your own personal gain under the shroud of legality.

I'm sure you've had great social interactions and have amassed much respect from those around you and gained many friends with such a staunch view on gratuities.

thats what sympathy is.

"feelings of pity and sorrow for someone else's misfortune."

the most successful men, make selfish decisions under the guise of moral ones

I was a server.

And there it is, folks.

Lol, this is rich (unlike you). The guy who is pan handling for an extra $2.55 that he won't declare on his taxes is accusing someone else of "cheating". ROFL.

Fascinating insight into the mind of a server. Wondrous levels of cognitive dissonance.

Sounds like he should get another job if his current line of employment waxes and wanes on the generosity of strangers.

Again, why should anyone care about a server's financial situation?

Well a little piece of shit like you wouldn't obviously.
