Hated by many, loved by many.

Personally I like them but people tend to have strong opinions on them either way.
I like them on the right person. They're causal and look and feel cozy. They make a good wristwatch look good if the colors contrast well too.

If you watch wicked tuna, one of the captains rocks one and it fits him. I don't and think they generally look stupid. They definitely work for some people.

I don't wear sweaters but I often wear turtle neck cotton shirts in the winter. I wore them every day in the winter for work as I was often outside in cold weather.
 
Not as a fashion choice but I wear thermals with a high neck in winter..
 
No, but they don’t look good on me owing to my massive head and thick neck. Tall lean guys can pull them off, Jeff Goldblum for example, but on me they look absurd.
