Gus was in terrible shape for the smith fight

Stepped on the scales and made weight, stepped in the cage and got choked no excuses....

I think Gus s biggest problem was that he couldn't keep things straight between the ears...... and this counts ( obviously) when you look back at ones career.

tho to be fair i think he won every round against Smith till the finish

Sure did, and that still was Gus at the worst we’ve seen him. Doing those mistakes in the fourth round (horrible trip, no hand fighting) tell us all we need to know about where he was mentally.

Replace doping with training and it's about right

It was probably one of his most impressive performances of his career, Jones was constantly having issues with Gus's boxing, but despite that he managed to endure the shots well, steal the fourth, and then take over the fifth with his superior durability and stamina. Do you really think Jones could go 5 competative rounds if he was out of shape?
I truly do, and I’m not trolling. There’s been accounts from many a fighters who claimed they didn’t train and were competitive

I disagree, Jones's biggest weakness has always been his hands. He relys on posting with his huge reach to keep to them at bay and movement. Machida and Santos (on a bad knee) had success just blitzing jones since he couldn't just keep them at range with his reach, Reyes also gave him issues just be being comparable in size with good movement and fundamental boxing. Someone with crisp boxing and good tdd like Gus, imo will always be Jones's hardest match.

Gus is not that good, he did well against Jones but other than that he is the great white hype.
