Let’s get this out of the way.

Trust me though. The Convict McGregor fact alone is worth the price of admission.
This is another involved read. If you have three - four minutes to spare. And are a thinking fan of the game. You might find my take interesting. I do not supply cliffs, because there aren’t any. Knowledge, and intelligence have no short cuts. But a lucid look at the dynamics of any situation. Can always provide food for thought. I’m not about the histrionics of the casual Shertard. So, if you don’t have the time to invest, then move along. This thread is directed at the serious fans of the sport.
A few months ago, Askren delighted certain plebs by saying he’d beat GSP in 2019.
In order to be completely informed, and fair. In regards to claims that Askren would beat GSP at the time. I totally researched Askren back in 2015, I believe. Including all the film. GSP was on what turned out to be a 4 year hiatus. So his haters thought it was safe to jump on Askren’s bandwagon then. And they resurfaced a few months ago. Still flogging the same bullshit.
The argument both times is that Dana wouldn’t sign Askren. But if he did, he’d kick GSP’s ass.
Not only has Askren never fought in the UFC himself. He’s only fought 4 guys, that ever fought in the UFC, themselves. The records of those four guys in the UFC were 2-7 or 2-8. I’m not going back to double check now. If you want to though. I believe my figures, and memory are accurate.
So, who the fuck has this guy ever beaten ?
I believe they have only fought one common opponent. Jay Hieron. It was GSP’s 2nd UFC fight. That would be about 2004. And, he KOd the guy in about a minute, and a half. While Askren managed a 5 round SD against the guy around 2011-2012.
That’s MMAth, and I don’t subscribe. But, it really is the only head to head comparison available at all.
Maybe like Askren, himself. The nobodies he fought were actually all world class. But, that prick Dana just wouldn’t sign them, either. Yeah...yeah, I’m sure that’s the explanation.
Wait. That can’t be. Earlier tonight there was a thread about the scrubs on Khabib’s resume. Fighters that had no wiki page. I countered with the fact that any great fighter. Had some scrubs early in their career. It’s just common sense, right ?
So apart from the research I did 2-3 years ago. I had to check this one out. Just as I posted in that other thread tonight. GSP had 1 scrub on his resume that did not have a wiki page. The Spider had 4, while Jones had 6.
Askren has 7. Yeah, I mean it’s not crazy right. As I said, MANY big named UFC fighters had some scrubs on their resume. Early in their careers when they were just starting out.

You mean three of the four MOST RECENT scrubs on Askren’s resume don’t have wiki pages. LMAO... I say, Got Damn !
Holy fuck...LMAO. I literally just searched this after typing the previous sentence. Convict McGregor has 13 fucking no wiki page scrubs on his resume. Literally 13 out of his first 14 opponents do not have a wiki page.

I find the arguments backing this guy to be utterly ridiculous. They have NO basis in fact. And, only exist as a way to try to discredit GSP.
Wanton and desperate is how I view such things. Kind of like people saying McGregor would beat GSP. Just like Bisping, Hendricks, Diaz, NBK, Shields, Kos, Hardy, Alves, BJ, etc, etc were all going to beat him, too. Because he never fought a fighter like them before.
Askren has less of a chance of beating GSP than any of the people I named above. And they all lost to GSP, already. I honestly don’t even see a possible rebuttal of this. GSP, and Askren or on opposite sides of the scale when analyzing the roundness of their games. And in which particular discipline either guy has the advantage in.
One of these guys defended against the best WW in the world at the time. Over, and over and over again. Then went on to take the belt in a higher weight class. After a 4 year absence from mma.
The other guy hasn’t even faced UFC calibre fighters. Let alone the murderers row GSP faced, and beat.
This is only my opinion. But I believe the argument is solid. Reasonable rebuttles will be carefully considered before being dismissed as the rubbish they are.

Then checked McGregor. That knowledge came to me at exactly that time, and place where I was in my OP. And I wasn’t about to bale out on the crux of this post. Just for a chance to bury McGregor’s cockroaches.
