I thought him making Hughes verbally tap was fitting to close out the trilogy. Pretty sure GSP would have snapped his arm if Hughes let go to tap. I struggle to think of other fights where the fight had no choice but to call uncle.

Penn quitting on the stool at that time was fucked. Never thought I'd see that either, that was kind of fucked.

I totally forgot about the verbal tap lol. Never liked Hughes either.

It was so shocking....GSP in his prime was an absolute monster. In hindsight, if Penn stayed at LW and not move up and take damage like that, maybe he wouldn't have declined so much....
 
He was a true top athlete - skillful, respectful, great record, good longevity. But many of his fights were not as memorable vs fighters who are fighters first.
