GSP issues statement on ulcerative colitis

Dude just fought less then one month ago.
Why are people complaining about him not defending a belt he just won when you have WCs being clogged by champions for most then a year?

Wow...got your tinfoil hat strapped tight enough? My brother has the same condition...not cool.

Yes. I don't think GSP was thrilled at the prospect of defending at 185. But I don't buy that he would bullshit illness.

There's nothing convenient about a colonoscopy and sucky diagnosis.

I stopped taking GSP and his team's word at face value when he knowingly greased In a fight.
That is actually the fault of his standup trainer. I seen him do it for his amateur fighters at Muay Thai events. He has little mma experience and probably just did what he does for his Muay Thai fights

If people are delusional enough to believe that, thats fine I guess..

I'm sure he greased In that exact spot by accident. All his other fights where his opponents said he greased, also accidental.

I'm not really trying to hate here but lets be real..

GSP has demonstrated more honour than all you whiny bitches who doubt him combined.

That's a rough go, dude.

Just to give you some hope, I'll tell you a little about my experience. I was diagnosed with Colitis at 20. After having very bad flare-ups (much like what you're describing) for around five years, and with no true breaks of remission or even near remission mixed in there, I finally decided to bite the bullet and have a colostomy. The surgeon, though, wanted to do a little more testing first, after which I was told that I more likely had Crohn's that was just manifesting itself in the Colon. So I was advised against the surgery, because Crohn's can move (you cut out a piece of your intestine, only to have the flare up migrate to another piece).

So I went on living like that for a number of years. During the week, I ate one meal a day, at the end of the day, because eating during the day put me entirely out of commission. Spent most of my time dehydrated, too, for the same reason and because my Colon just wasn't doing it's job. Stayed home near a bed and a bathroom all weekend every weekend.

And then one day, out of no where, poof. It was gone. I've been in full remission now for 8 years. I've not had a single flare up. Nothing even indicating that it was every anything I struggled with. I don't have any good ideas as to why it happened (I have some guesses, like the fact that I was eating a lot of squash and broccoli and was on a kick for "super foods" at the time... but that kick didn't last, and I'm still good; or the possibility that as I got older, my immune system weakened, and the inflammation finally just died down). But in any case, it happened. Fully, and completely. I got my life back.

I really hope it happens for you.

Actually many types of squash and zuchini are not only rich in fiber but have specific anti inflammatory properties for inflammation in the colon. In general if you were eating lots of squash / broccoli / fibrous vegetables when it first started to move into remission I'd try to keep those present in your diet at least at moderate levels.

While some people have terrible issues in spite of a great diet due to genetic lottery, bowel inflammation can also be attributed to or aggravated by low fiber diets and is generally better managed with a high fiber diet.

No matter what happened I'm glad you have it under control now and I hope for Georges sake he can do the same.

Would GSP being able to use the best doctors money can buy help? Or is he fucked regardless?

Each case is different. If you can get the inflammation under control and keep it under control, the prognosis is substantially better. Ideally for someone working in a field where you need a functional immune system (like a combat sports athlete), it would be best if you can keep the inflammation under control without resorting to really strong anti inflammatories like TNF blockers (Humira et al).

I seen this trainer almost 5 years before he started cornering gsp. He is a bit of a showman and incorporates a bit of his own touch to everything. He does the exact same procedure between rounds where he lifts both your legs up and rubs vasoline on chest. I am not claiming gsp doesn’t grease but that specific incident where they were doing it in between rounds is bullshit.

Think I lost some IQ points reading this thread. Some people are seriously delusional, thinking this is all a fabrication.

GSP has been honest about his health and mental state his entire career but go ahead and make these stupid threads.
I mean he also talked about aliens and shit, so he's basically batshit crazy now. and yeah, as people said before, he's NOT an honest guy, so no we shouldn't trust him

just happened to grease In the exact spot where his opponent is known to apply his high gaurd, effectively nullifying his bottom game.

Quite a convenient accident.

he talked about that when?
LOL

The ignorance is so blatant in this community. He talked about it in his interview with Ariel Helwani and at the New York Stock Exchange. His coaches also made a big social media post talking about all the challenges they had through out camp.

They fought that GSP's body was just programmed to be at 170, and that is why he was vomiting while trying to gain weight. But it turns out that his bowels just weren't functioning as they should.

What next?

He's going to jump into the cage tonight and attack Big John so he can get banned and hence not fight Whittaker!?!?!??!

GSP is a known cheater. that is just a fact. if this whole disease story is true, than I hope for the best for him. but there's a possibility that it is not
