That was great. It was very honest and it's great to see someone looking at why they dislike a fighter and deciding that hating and bashing is pointless. Thank you very much for that, good sir.

Though I never really bashed or hated on a fighter, I have done the same and looked at why I have disliked fighters in the past. In most cases, I've found that the reasons are trivial or just don't make sense, and that I really shouldn't have disliked them in the first place. Often, it was simply because it was my first introduction to a fighter and their was a seeming conflict (whether it existed or not) between them and a fighter I liked.

A perfect example for me was BJ Penn. The first live MMA event I ever watched was GSP vs. Penn 2, and I was a GSP fan (I am Canadian after all. :P But seriousy, I have other reasons for liking him, and I have been critical of him in the past). Naturally, I didn't like what Penn said in the lead up to and after the fight. Since then, I've looked at why I disliked him and decided there's really no reason, so I've moved on a become a bit of a fan.

Even Koscheck, who talked a ton of crap, I don't like or dislike either way now; I guess it was mainly just pumping myself up for the fight by disliking him, but now I've moved on and don't root for or against him either way.

At present, the only fighters that I can say I truly dislike are Nate and Nick Diaz because I don't like their attitude and the way they act, but I still have to admit that I like and am a fan of their fights.

Once again, it was great to see that post of yours. I wish more people could take that introspective look at themselves and their reasons for disliking, hating, and bashing fighters. All message forums would be much better off if everyone could do this.

EDIT: What the hell is a "message forum"? That should've either read "message board" or "forum". Derp.
 
I'm beginning to think GSP will be the GOAT by the end of his career.
