Gregor Gillespie vs Brad Riddell in the works for UFC 258

Gillepee getting KO'd twice would be phenomenal. He's a small LW, Riddell came from WW should be able to stuff the boring ass hump session and put GG lights out again.

Imo, NZ is as close to Australia as you can get (culture, geography, migration etc).

Yeah, I was just giving you shit lol. I too can't help but root for the NZ guys sometimes just because they're so close to us haha. Their flag being so similar basically seals the deal for me.

Also, just to be more of a smartass, let me just point out that in terms of geography, Indonesia and Papa New Guinea are both closer in terms of geography to us. I actually had to look that up because I wasn't sure and thought it was NZ as well lol.

Riddel didn't even look that amazing against da Silva in his last fight. That da Silva has a really good looking record, so you might think he is. 21-3 seems amazing until you look back 5 or so fights and realize most of it was against dudes with losing records.

Riddel was getting hit plenty and gassing.

Someone like Gregor will absolutely maul him.

I like it actually, Riddell's a decent addition to the division but a strong wrestler likely beats him every time. Gillespie via submission.

What does Gregor deserves? He hasn't beat anyone and was violently KOed by a fringe top 10 guy who can't even get through Iaquinta.

I feel like Gregor been pushing for a soft opponent after his last fight so the ufc finally threw riddle at him.
 
I fail to see how this is supposed to be an easy win for Gillespie.

Gillespie has the gas tank and is a really good wrestler, but in the striking Riddell is superior and he's also got really really good TDD and is hard to control.

Hahaha, I know the geography lol. But it matters less when the majority of their population doesn't speak much english. Plus all the British Empire roots.

But yeah, Indonesia and New Guinea are way closer than NZ. NZ is actually pretty far away, if you were in anywhere but AUS lol.

Wot?

Yancy and Pichel also have superior striking to Gillespe and he flogged them. Riddel's striking isn't going to mean anything if he's on his back the entire time.

And as for his TDD and being hard to control, well, looking at the stats, he's been taken down and controlled by all three of the guys he's faced, and none of those guys are even remotely close to the level of wrestler that Gillespe is.

As for Riddel's gas tank. He looked absolutely spent in the third round. He would be dead against Gillespe, who doesn't tire over three rounds and would have been mauling him up until that point.
 
Riddel looked incredicle vs Mustafaev considering his lack of experience vs top opposition. And dont forget what Magomed did to Fiziev.

Terrible matchmaking. Riddell should be used for fun striking matches. Gregor is going to absolutely ragdoll him if this fight gets made. Ludicrous.

The split was against Magomed Mustafaev though who's one of those guys who's always on the cusp of the rankings himself, beat Fiziev and has only lost in the UFC to FKL other than Brad, though.

I think it's fair he gets a crack at the rankings.

I favour Gregor, though. Magomed gave him some difficulty with the wrestling and Gregor is a much better grappler.
