He had like one good season and was in the league for a total of, what was it, only like 4 seasons? Made one pro bowl. People act like he was some perennial all pro player, he wasn't. He was one of those 'looks like he has some great potential' guys.

That said, I think Hardy and Brock are both A-level athletes.

He was only in the NFL for 4 seasons because he beat the shit out've his gf, not because he wasn't good enough to play in the NFL (which he clearly was).

People love to give Hardy a hard time (lol),

But in reality he did pretty well in MMA for a guy with no fighting experience until a few years ago. He fought his way into the UFC and put together some decent wins, and had a competitive fight with a top 10 guy.

I'd say his venture was not a total failure by any means.

He should stop now though.

As for soccer, it's like expecting HWs having the same cardio than LWs, which is obviously a normal expectation <seedat>

Also if cardio is the only metric, then i guess Usain Bolt is not athletic.

Also i wonder why 100 meters is the most prestigious event in Olympic Games (summer and winter combined).

Everybody knows Usain Bolt while nobody knows a single marathonian gold medalist.

Perhaps athleticism is mainly about explosiveness in people's mind ?

Cardio is less about explosiveness and more about endurance. An NHL regular season is 82 games. Winning the Stanley Cup requires 16 wins over four best-of-seven series against different teams (that can present significantly difficult matchups, depending on style of play and skill level) over a two month period. This requires lots of skating where losing 15 lbs. through perspiration is common. There's virtually no off-season. Can't stay in that condition by goofing off for several months.

Do you skate, ever? The lower body strength required to compete at even an amateur level requires constant drills, weight lifting, and...endless skating every which way: forwards, backwards, stopping on a dime and turning while holding on to a small, rock-hard piece of rubber with a stick. All of these things are at very high speed (they're on ice!). Being able to know where your teammates are and where the other teams' dangerous hitters are on-the-fly where decisions are made in advance (through practice and intuition) tenths of a second...

Why would there be ice games in the Summer Olympics? I don't understand.

I wasn't thinking Olympics, just popular sports.I'm glad you brought that up, though, as most wouldn't. Marathons are synonymous with cardio. Goes without saying. Greatest athletes that few even know exist. Outside of MMA, I follow only team sports.

They're very skilled at what they do and the best at it, no doubt about that.

However implying that they have some sort of freak athleticism is simply delusional.

Also, they are on skates and they are smaller than NFL players on average, so the cardio comparison is flawed.
