Greatest Technical Fighters you have ever seen?

GSP for sure in MMA if you are factoring in MMA as a whole. His technical striking and grappling are unparalleled. He was the prototype for guys like Usman and Colby who are the future of MMA in my opinion. Guys who can take down dangerous strikers, and avoid the ground against dangerous grapplers.

I haven't seen much of Joe Louis, but from your video, his striking doesn't really strike me as particularly "technical." I would say Sugar Ray Leonard would be the most "technical" fighter I've ever seen.

even in his own era he was not considered a technician. There are plenty of writers on Joe Louis from his era. Guys like Bert Sugar spoke on his grit and his extreme power. I’m not saying this to try and argue cuz I love seeing old school boxing debates but come on dawg, he was not a crazy technician
Well. It depends what you mean by crazy technician.

If you telling me technician in a shoulder roll or the ability to bob and weave. then sure

Also, bert sugar was a bit of a nut.

but back to Joe. The technique that I am really referring to is his punch technique, his pivot, his footwork, cutting off the ring, his balance even after throwing big shots, always being in the correct position to counter etc.

Yeah I agree not like an all time great defensive ace like a Mayweather, James Toney or a Pernell Whittaker.

But I have literally never before seen someone with Joe Louis's punching mechanics, offensive prowess, and all around ability on the offensive end.

So you are correct in that he wasn't a Willie Pep dance around the ring, and avoid shots guy.

But he was a special fighter. From a technique and power standpoint

MM
Fedor
GSP
Silva*

No one technically better than MM ever. Fedor wild man Pride f'n crazy. GSP so dominant in his safe way. Silva like a cobra busted...

for me in boxing it's Jersey Joe Walcott. the man was smooth like butter. i know he did unorthodox shit like cross his feet when he'd move, but he made that shit work for him. to me, that's technical.

in MMA it's gotta be GSP.

DJ and Matt Hume actually watch tape of Gegard Mousasi in getting ready for his fights. This is" almost" like asking who are the best/ complete mmartists you've seen.....that said , DJ, Jones....on the feet-Anderson, Aldo .

For me boxing wise it would be Joe Louis. Sorta insane that a man fighting in the 1930's had the punching power and technique that this cat had. Whole body was in almost every shot he threw as effortlessly as I have ever seen.

MMA maybe GSP? Seemed to make very few mistakes from a technique standpoint

For MMA, Anderson Silva.

Israel Adesanya
GSP
Mighty Mouse
Valentina Shevchenko

Lol @ some of you pretending to know boxing.
