Great Fight IQ: Misha Cirkunov, Horrible Fight IQ: Alex Nicholson

Just watched Misha Cirkunov vs. Alex Nicholson.

Misha has a lot of potential. He needs to improve his wrestling and striking but his Fight IQ is great. He adapted to Alex throwing his stupid spinning backfist and ducked under them for takedowns and an attempted standing arm triangle. He adapted well to his opponent.

Alex proved he has poor Fight IQ while he threw one continuous missed spinning backfist after another. I can't believe his corner wasn't yelling for him to stop throwing it. Even then, Alex should have known to stop throwing it when he kept getting taken down or in trouble because of it.


Solid fight. Misha may have a long UFC career ahead of him. Alex, not so much.

Jaw problems are a bitch of a problem for a debutant to have. I doubt this fight improved his prognosis.

Either way, Alex was gonna be finished.
