Grappling tournaments

I'm going to enter a grappling tournament in about a month and was wondering what they are all about. I cross train for MMA, but spend a lot of time grappling with guys who are very good. I'll probably enter at white belt or whatever beginer's program they have, since I've only been training for about a year. What I would like to know is how are they scored and what kind of time periods do they have.
