Grappling Is Boring...

Fixed it for you.
Nah.

The entire mma community completely disrespected Tyron Woodley after a masterful performance against a grandmaster BJJ black belt.

Why? Because their favorite fighter was completely dominated and made to look like a can, so it had to be Woodley's fault. HAHA

Classic human behavior. Nobody wants to see grappling when the darling fighter isn't on top.

I love good, active grappling that focuses on BJJ. I think fans don't like the slow, stalling, wrestling aspect of grappling. The DC-bent-over-against-the-cage-with-a-jockstrap-hanging-out type of grappling.

Both grappling and stand up can be pretty boring. If you really just hate grappling then MMA is not the sport for you.

Personally I would rather watch a grappling exchange then a glorified sparring session on the feet TBH .

MMA probably isn't the right sport for you if you don't like 1 of the 2 aspects of MMA.

There's some truth to the contention that grappling is never gonna be as visually exciting as striking sports, even more so American culture. In many parts of Europe and Brazil they just can;t get enough of it which is why amateur grapplers who go far enough in their careers can enjoy movie stat status and in the US they have generally needed to get into the pro wrestling spectacle to get to that level. And some of it is global as well; grapplers of any kind reach the international fame of the most successful boxers is also pretty much non existent.

Exactly. Grappling is only fun with dominance.

Disagree. Back and forth grappling exchanges are great fun.

Saku-Newton and Azeredo-Buscape are two examples that instantly spring to mind. Granted these are old fights, but I'm sure there are more recent examples as well.

Kickboxing is probably more your thing.

Jabbing is boring unless the jabber's name is Semmy Schilt. Jabs are for wimps, just close distance and swing for the fences.

Not true

I won't lie though, it's only fun when both guys are good & it's back & forth fast paced action.

You mean its only fun when it ends in a submission, because casuals have no idea what's going on otherwise.

The only time the fans enjoy grappling is when the fighter they want to win has dominant position.

The only time I don't mind grappling is when it is a WMMA fight, because women are not strong enough to just hold each other down. Women who know basic grappling skills often escape, and there are a lot of positional transitions and scrambles.

Don't get mad of me for this opinion. The majority of the mma community stated that Tyron Woodley vs Demian Maia was boring, despite a masterful performance by Tyron Woodley against the best grappler in UFC history.

To casuals it really isn't.

Do you watch kickboxing or muay thai? Star watching Glory and you won't be disappointed.

I think it's interesting that your examples are very old. I do love fights like these, but it's been a while since I saw something similar.

You should check out kickboxing or boxing. I hear they keep those fights standing.

As others have pointed out, there are a number of combat sports which don't have grappling - boxing, kick boxing, Muy Thai for instance. Why are you watching a sport that you find boring half the time, when there are other sports with none of that boring element?

It not unlike someone who hates cheese eating cheeseburgers and then complaining about it, rather than just eating readily available hamburgers without cheese.

I find the grappling in men's flyweight really entertaining. Unlimited cardio and with weight not being as much of a factor you see crazy sweeps and reversals. Tim Elliot - Louis Smolka is still the FOTY for me.
