Grant Dawson - A great fighter that no one cares about

Ma man Islam isn't hand picking his opponents. Besides, I would say over the span of his UFC career he's fought a lot of guys with lethal ground games.
Islam fought everybody frfr. Would love to see him fight Dawson and give him the taste of his own medicine, though rankingwise it probably ain't happening anytime soon.

Every time I see him I think "Oh yeah, this guy is pretty good, why did I forget about him?" then I proceed to entirely forget about him until the next time he fights.

Just not that into MMA anymore to follow everyone.

I think you'd forget it since his fights are so traumatizingly boring lol

The fight against green really hurt his stock in my opinion.i would like to see him fight dariush or turner

Bobby Green loss set him back at lot. I bet had it not happened, he would be viewed as a true contender at this stage

lol it was a good win for sure, i think he will make his way up eventually

i think he runs through a lot of top 10s.

Grant Dawson rules. I rather watch a dominant wrestler grappling then dogshit point fighting kickboxing

no one like dogshit point fighting kickboxing but dawson rules all over them.

the king of boredom

If they do end up meeting (one day) whilst there's a chance Dawsons top control could win him a round, if Islam takes him down I think he subs him fairly quickly.

I’m impressed by him. I definitely want to see him fight up the rankings a bit. I like Dawson versus Moicano or Dariush next.

apparently Moicano is mentioned a fair bit on this thread, he's good, a solid fighter, but I don't think he has wrestling to deal with Dawson.

Dariush would be a great fight for both.

Not sure, but hope so. I don't think Dawson would be easy to sub personally, but would be great, great fight!

unfortunately, the ufc isn't a sport. it's prizefighting. no one cares about dawson, so he won't get anywhere until the ufc is forced to.

they already tried turning mma into a legitimate sport with proper stats and rankings back when they first signed with fox. it failed miserably as they found people couldn't care less about someone's takedown defense percentage or the amount of control time they had on top. people tuned in to either see brutal knockouts and submissions from any fighter, someone they liked or hated win or lose, or to see the absolute best fight. that makes up the minority of fighters. most fighters are run-of-the-mill, good at all great at nothing fighters who don't stand out. nothing emotional from those fighters for people to gain an interest in. all fighters training together fighting the same way and knowing each other's plans due to the camps they come from, etc. it seems to have become the same and mundane.

that's why i think the ufc relies heavily on advertising the same stars over and over. keep your proven assets in the spotlight and hopefully the rest will do something interesting for fans to tune in.

you make good points. but I do care about dawson because I like great fighters, and i hope to see him get his ass whooped for such a boring style lol

but yeah you make good points, I agree with you, ufc doesn't always sign best fighters and selectively sign guys too. they probably don't need to any more.

yeah, i'm with you. i think dawson is a very good fighter and i personally like watching him fight. but we're the minority hardcore mma fans the ufc knows they already have.

well i can't say i enjoy him watching him fight, i just watch him fight since i've kept up with him for like 6 years now and see how his career progresses, nice guy but hoping someone ends that boring style of his lol.

he's a very good fighter though, but problem is ufc doesn't always sign guys like that. he kinda fooled ufc too he was finishing all the regional guys and then....terrifying dawson happened.....so terrifying that it can scare crying baby to sleep....that level of boring....

if ufc signs guys like that, dawson probably would've ran into much tougher match ups earlier on...but ufc seems to be very careful signing wrestlers...

he's a very talented wrestler, but as a pure wrestler in today's mma he'll amount to nothing unless his standup gets atleast decent, getting smoked by old bobby green is a terrible look

but i KNOW that was a fluke, dawson has a lot of potential. i like him

he's very good. he needs to fight either

alvarez
bsd
dariush
gamrot
arman

moicano came up a few times but i think it'd be easy fight for him.

you didn't mention Poirier, that would be a good retirement fight.

How do you think he does vs gamrot and arman? those two matchups i think are interesting because those other guys can't wrestle.

I think poirier is an easy fight for dawson so I left him out. not really interested

i'd love to see it. I think, I think he loses to them both. It also depends on the rounds too. I don't know if Dawson can wrestle for five rounds too.

i think other fights are interesting too like alvarez and bsd, especially if he can main event.

the fact that he's not a big name guy, even though he has been so successful for so long in ufc, helps him in that regard too, since he don't have to do that for five rounds.

dariush fight is great too, it would be great step up for dawson and safe fight for possibly chin-shot dariush. I'd love to see if Dawson can keep dariush down.
