Some of the people at BB.com piss me off. I'll continue posting their for now, but perhaps not in the future we'll see.
Anyway:
The vids are taking to long to upload. The internet at the place I'm staying is slow as fuuuu. So I'll see if I can upload tomorrow night or when I get back from Vegas.
Here's a pic of me with the guy who beat me at the end:
And to clarify what I said before, I have to older brothers who are really into MMA, and I since I was about 11 rolled/sparred with them on occasion for fun, but didn't start really training seriously until about April this year so about 6 months, at which point I fell in love with it, and I fully intend (whether I peruse football or not to continue it as far as I can).
Here's a more detailed break down of what happened at the tournament, in the meantime:
I was signed up for the 16-17s super heavies but the tournament organizers didn't want a more then 12lbs gap in weight and none of the 17s where close to my weight. But then they agreed to have a teen open, but none of the teens wanted to verse me.
Then they decided to put me into the adult beginner, and none would vs me. The intermediate and advanced had already finished by this point. (the tournament was really poorly organized, and the expo was shutting down at this point and security was starting to sho people out). But the organizers I guess desperate to give me a fight had an open invite for any of the mens advanced winners to vs me. The top two mens advanced heavies said they would.
The first guy I versed we where even (I was to strong for him to submit I just pushed him off, or curled out of his armmbars/kicked off his leg locks/and lol'd at his take downs, but he was waayy more skilled then I was and I couldn't submit him either because he knew every escape) for three rounds and then they stopped the match and called it a draw, (I don't know why? it was as I said the end of the day, they where packing stuff up). They where going to end it their but the other guy said he'd like to face me, and I'm always up for a fight. So with out a break I went into that match. We where dead even (same as the last guy I was to strong, and his was to skilled for either to get a sub, or even a take down). So after two rounds of that the tourny people said go to sudden death. And we where again dead even this carried on for a good 10-15 mins, and I was getting bored (and they where shutting the place down) of just battle back and forth cause as I said neither could take the other down or sub for a point. So I decided to give him my head/neck and grab his legs for a take down, (I though it'd prob work since I had already shrugged off a few guillotine attempts by him) but this time he took full advantage of me giving him my head/neck and got a really good lock, (I might have been able to slam him and in a more high stakes match I would have tried it) and so I conceded the match to him at that point.
edit: I don't know where that puts me in the tournament? They said to stand on the second place thing with the other guy being first, and the other, other guy being third, and since they where the best advanced heavies I guess that puts me at 2'nd overall? (but that's using MMA math lol and I know how sherdog loves that) but yea I don't know or care that much, I was just happy to get a match or two in for the first time.
So yea it was my first grappling tournament, and for being my first one I was pretty happy. With another 2 years of training (+even more strength/size) I'd be confident taking on just about anyone in a grappling match.
As for stand up I'll keep training that really hard as well, (I of course need more technique, but my hand are very naturally fast, and I have s very long reach ( don't know didn't measure it yet) I'll post a vid hitting a bag with some combos at some point) I think (if I do MMA over football, not sure yet, and I know football pays a lot more but I as I said fell in love with MMA) I'll take the next two years and train really seriously and then make a debut fight some where. Perhaps take Josh up on his offer and go train with him at his gym.
(if I'd do that I'd do school to, likely just do online courses, school comes easy to me so that would not be a problem)
