Media Gordon Ryan basically confirms Jon's next fight will be his last

Pavlovich / Aspinal for challenge and honestly probably ppv points.

Jones doesn't owe either of these guys a fight at HW.

As a fan it would be cool to see, but as a fighter, I want him to sail off into the sunset as the GOAT.

Jones trying to take the easy way out of heavyweight. LOL

Wrestle no takedown Cyril and submit old ass Stipe and declare yourself the greatest heavyweight and the greatest fighter of all time - with a huge ASTERISK beside your name. FOH

its basically wht khabib did, and his fans say he did the best thing for himself.

beat up a few guys with little ground game and retire on top and be considered one of the greats.

the only difference is jon came back. went up a weight class and is doing it again.

Really though who else is there? A 4th dc fight? As much as I want to see him get knocked out by anyone really, who is there that would entice him to keep fighting?
It would be a third fight

Easy money Stipe. Can lose but Stipe is 41.

Pavlovich Aspinal Nuke Jones quick finish. The are not helpess on the ground. Bugger stronger better hands.

You think there are no Challenges.

Jones fights who he likes.

He won't fight to be the best HW

I just hope old man stipe knocks his block off. Doubt it, but jones has failed too many drug tests.

Also, he lost to reyes.

Wasn't Gane the #1 contender? So Jones took the easy way out, fighting #1? Also, if you are fighting for legacy at this point in your career, what name looks better than possibly the top HW in the UFC of all-time? I understand that the Jones haters want to see him lose REAL BAD, so they want to see him fight the young guns. However, Jones is clearly at the end of his GOAT career, so why not fight a legend over a no name guy? 20-30 years from now, people will look at Jones resume, and a win over Stipe will look pretty impressive.

Or you know, the 2 young prime HWs that people actually wanted him to fight?

Only reason I could see Jones to keep fighting is big fights, I don’t think he wants to retain or keep defending titles.

Biggest fights for him that would sell PPV would be Adesanya, Jiri or Pereira.

lmao so a guy that already has one of (if not) the greatest careers and wants to retire has to keep fighting young fighters in their prime just because haters want to see him lose?
Jon doesn't have to do shit. He's a grown ass man. But to say there is nothing left is just stupid. There's plenty left. I'm all for retiring young and healthy (as healthy as you can get with his life choices at least) but handing picking a ring rusted Stipe as his swan song is just...meh. Kinda like ending your career on a wet shart. Seeing him go out on a win against a prime HW on a tear would have been much more exciting.

Buy hey. I'm sure his fans love it and he's happy with his life choices so that's all that matters

Jones is 36 years old, and has been fighting since 2008

He had many years off in that period from 08 to now between bulking for HW and suspensions. He was not a very active fighter year by year had plenty time off in that span specially in recent years.

Anyone with a brain already knew it but it's never been confirmed by Jon or UFC explicitly. Jon hinted it but never flatout said it. Hometown, against Stipe.
Gordon may love Jiujitsu but he doesn't love telling the truth. Jon can't retire undefeated because Matt Hamill already beat him. I'm not sure why he wants to give shade to "The Hammer".

Those two aren't going to help him sell a PPV.
Fighting the best is what makes being the UFC champion actually matter. Jon would sell more PPVs fighting McGregor for the HW title but would that mean he defended his HW title and is a real champion? As fans we should be demanding to see the UFC run the top 10 like a meritocracy and allow contenders to climb the ranks to a title shot so that fights matter.

I mean, is this news? Hasn’t Jon said the same?
