Goodbye Masvibald

Yeah that makes sense, I’m just going off what the hairdresser told me. She said even with good genetics, corn rows can mess up the hairline. Depends person to person imo

Apples and bananas. All the shit about products, diets, hats, braiding etc. Is very different from male pattern baldness. People conflate the two because 1. They're stupid and grew up on such wivestales 2. They dont want to accept reality.

Its not that long ago, like just 3 or 4 decades that a lot of Chinese people thought horse urine had super strong potency and rubbing it on your head would prevent balding and greying. People think you can go get a brand new head of hair in Turkey too, they have no idea how things work. Meanwhile Nadal and LeBron can throw millions at procedures and look like ghouls.

i think it also depends on how tight they're braiding the cornrows. you don't want a free facelift with the cornrows.

Isn’t LeBrons issue not getting off anabolic steroids? Same as Paulo?

no. that only speeds up the process. look at guys like Ultimate Warrior, Scott Steiner, Chris Benoit, Brock Lesnar, Arnold, Lou Ferrigno. none of these guys are going bald and they are/were on all kinds of steroids.

No I mean not getting off them after getting the transplant. If you don’t have the gene you don’t have the gene, but LeBron and Paulo obviously have it.

i never understood professional fighters getting veneers on their teeth, hair transplants, etc., while still being active fighters.
Yeah. It's supposed to be pretty bad for athletes since they need to take some medicine that lowers testosterone after the procedure, if I recall correctly.

I remember some footballers having sharp declines after hair transplants.

wtf i didn't even know that part. i was just looking at it like why fix things that are only visual when you're in such a brutal sport that has a high chance of destroying whatever procedure you had done, or having the procedure itself add complications to your injuries if they occur. but that's crazy that pro athletes would take medicines that will lower your testosterone when you KNOW there are athletes doing shit to raise theirs to insane levels.

I did some googling out of curiosity.

For the transplant to be more successful, it's helpful to take DHT-blocking medication.

It can result in lower libido and erectile dysfunction and it has a negative effect on fast twitch muscle, but supposedly doesn't affect overall T-levels negatively.

I still wouldn't do it, especially if I was a professional athlete.

Men getting hair implants is the equivalent of women getting breast implants: It might actually look better than before, but it still leaves the impression that you're insecure af.

Saggy tits and receiding hairlines is where it's at. Just deal with it like an alpha.

It lowers brain DHT, which you would think is pretty important for a fighter. There isn't really a difference between T and DHT as far as the androgen receptor is concerned. DHT is just more likely to bind to it and that's why lowering DHT slows or halts hair loss. It lowers the overall androgen status of hair follicle cells. Although specifically in muscle tissue this isn't really an issue since DHT gets quickly further reduced to an androgen far weaker than even testosterone. But neurons, for example, experience the same change as hair follicle cells. IE, they have far lower androgen status.

I shaved my head for the better part of my late 20s early 30s. But later in life i let it grow long.

No sign of baldness yet, but when it comes, ill shave it off for good. It's crazy the lengths some of these guys go through to keep their hair when they hardly had any to begin with.

At least w Masvidal, his long hair kinda became part of his identity at this point.

Been having a near shaved head since I was a kid. I guess I got called baldy a few times, but other than that I think it looks better than long hair.

While I agree that it has a lot to do with vanity, I think it has also to do with one own's identity. If you live most of your life having a certain style of hair, you recognize that as part of your identity, so when it's starts to go, it feels weird, like you're losing a part of yourself, if that makes sense. The person you see on the mirror doesn't look like you anymore.

If you consider an extreme situation, like getting disfigured, maybe it becomes easier to understand. I guess losing your hair is like a very mild (or harsh, for some) form of disfigurement.

Also, not everyone is 1,85 m, 93-100 Kg of muscle, with a chiseled face, like Bas...
