Maybe this caught my attention more than others. I have real esteem and aspirations of becoming a boxing / MMA commentator and so I pay close attention to such things.

My question to you: will Jim Ross find his rhythm in boxing? Will his "Ross-isms" (IE: "He's tougher than a 2 dollar steak!") do him more harm than good?

Ross does have experience with Golden Boy and is as seasoned veteran as any. From my exposure to pro wrasslin in the 1990's, I can't confidently tell you that its going to be a smooth listen for me.

He did commentary on a card not too long ago, I can't remember what card it was, and he was pretty rough. He sounded like a pro but didn't do a great job calling the action.

I heard him call a boxing match, and he called it the same way he used to call wrasslin' matches. Very superficial.

Don't except him to commentate on angles, positioning, control of rhytm and range, defensive measures.

Those guys tend to be better. Mauro was one of the best boxing commentators we ever seen.

Guys like Hopkins , RJJ, Thurman, and Danny Jacobs are knowledgeable but dont have the voice or accent to commentate

Fuck that, we talking about the shouty man on WWE with glasses. The guy that says shit like 'he just choke slammed him literally into hell'?

I miss The Champ Sean O' Grady.

He wasn't exactly proficient at calling the action but it was nice to be reminded every single time someone got cut that it heals 1% per day for 100 days then it's all good.

I've seen him bash boxing on twitter before during the whole " boxing is dying, MMA is taking over " fad.
He also was pretty condescending about the job when someone asked him a couple of years ago if he could successfully commentate on boxing . " It's easy , just two guys punching each other in the face "

Typical oklahoma hillbilly. If he dislikes boxing, then why is he getting involved?

Burger King is always looking for new employees.

Wow he said that? what a little pos. It would be cool to hear him scream one of those lines like" good lord almighty he got knocked out". Nah stay in your place fat boy, want to jump ships because wrasslin is drowning? And booker t probably stole his job, lmao.

He did commentary on a Memorial Day holiday GbP card about two years ago. He only has a superficial knowledge of the sport but he is a good broadcaster.

Will he promote his bbq sauce between rounds?
