Good ideas for party food?

It's my birthday in a couple weeks so I was planning to have a small get together and provide my guests with food I make. I'm going to cook a batch of chili, salsa and chips, beer, wine, and... not much else. I realized I don't know what to prepare for when it comes to party food.

It'll be somewhere between 6-10 people.

Any ideas?

Sending a pm to @supra57 would be your best bet. Dude's got mad cooking skills.

Ok, I'm going to show you guys my secret recipe:

The ULTIMATE party dip! Follow instructions:

aka "the dip" ok, these ingredients must not be substituted, otherwise, it will not taste the same ... believe me, i have tried variations and this is the one that works. Very Happy the dip will be a hit at ur next party - guaranteed!

1 large block velveeta cheese
1 jar cheez whiz
1 jar tostitos salsa con queso
1 jar tostitos salsa - (mild)
2 cans "rotel" diced tomatoes
1 pkg jimmy dean hot sausage
1.5 lbs of lean ground beef
1 large bag of tostitos scoops

* - if u like spicy foods, u can use hot rotel and salsa, but be warned, the hot rotel is indeed hot! if for some reason, u cannot find "rotel" brand diced tomatoes, i would use a brand like "del monte" or whatever.

now, cut velveeta into 1 - 2 inch blocks (melts faster) and put into a large crockpot (if u dont have a large crockpot, omit cheez whiz and use 1 lb of beef), then pour in rotel tomatoes (drain the juice first!), salsa, cheez whiz and salsa con queso.
ur crockpot should be set on high for now to get the cheese to melt.

after u get the crockpot going, fry the sausage and beef together in the same pan (make sure u cook it thoroughly!). drain the grease as much as possible. once u drain off the grease, pour meat into crockpot and stir the ingredients (u better have a strong spoon as i have broken 2 in the past! Very Happy) u need to stir the crockpot about once every 5 or 10 minutes - depending on how hot it gets.

once the cheese is melted turn crockpot to low. now, take a bowl, scoop out some dip, grab ur tostitos scoops and ur fav drink.

Make some head cheese. It's good on its own or on little finger sandwiches, and it's cheap to make!

Sesame Chicken. You can eat with a toothpick. Or if you want healthier go with beef and broccoli. You can eat that with toothpick. They are practically ordeaurves

Lasagna
Chicken wings
Burgers/sliders
Everyone make your own pizza can be fun too.

Hell, man, it's your birthday. You're already providing a main course (chili) and booze.

Don't worry about the side dishes, have your friends bring them (and maybe a cake)

Get some Cream Cheese, Jalepenos, and Bacon

Stuff the Jalepenos with cream cheese and wrap them with Bacon, cook and serve.

Also have some drugs for your guests, be a good host.

Some finger foods (any kind) ..

Maybe a cheese ,meat and cracker tray/plate and an optional veggie tray wit some dip and your good. Grab some from your grocery store should be like 8-10 bucks each.....Toss some waters, sodas, beer (or whatever the chicks drink) in the fridge or cooler and youre done...

What you already said was pretty good too.. Just add one thing like a the cheese, salami, cracker tray....and you got the salsa and chips so you probably only need one of these...
Or any of the things the guys listed above sound good to me

sounds pretty fire bro. I dig it

In addition to the other suggestions, doing some "pigs in a blanket" or something similar is a guaranteed hit. Just be aware they will disappear quickly.

Never go wrong with those either

Cocktail shrimp are like the pigs in a blanket, people just can't seem to eat them fast enough. The only issue is that with the shrimp things are going to get expensive. I recall Jackie the Jokeman from the Howard Stern show used to have parties everyone loved to attend where he would have new plastic garbage cans filled with steamed clams and whole lobsters!

Just make sure you have strippers at your party and the food won't matter.
