First we get Sherdog bitching about the Cain-JDS rematch being too soon, now we get Sherdog bitching about Gus not getting an immediate rematch. Make up your damn mind. Gus lost, end of story.

Jones isn't "ducking" Gus. He never said he wasn't going to rematch Gus. The rematch will come, but give it some time and give Gus some time to get better. There are other quality fighters at 205, although neither fighter at this point is losing to anyone else in that division. Give both fighters some more wins and the hype for the rematch will be incredible.

Bigger hype = more PPV buys = more $$$ for Dana.

immediate rematch only should happen with robberies and controversial stoppages

Or the rematch could be killed by a loss. Like Sonnen almost losing to Bisping. Or Reem losing to bigfoot(wasn't a rematch I know.)

Strike while the iron's hot.

There going to fight again anyway so who cares when it happens. People don't understand that for some reason

Why does edgar get a rematch every time he loses and his fights werent even that exciting, now everyone thinks Gus beat jones in a super controversial decision, in a super exciting fight and no rematch? wtf

True, but these 2 are far ahead of everyone else in the division unlike those other circumstances you brought up (especially Reem)

They're both in their 20's. Not sure why some want this to happen immediately. IF they are as good as we think they'll be fighting one another soon enough.

Reem I agree with, but anyone would have thought that Sonnen would have stomped on Bisping, didn't happen though.

It's par for the course on Sherdog. Any longtime champ will be questioned.

Silva first turned down a rematch with Weidman, and the "coward" threads started up. He gets the rematch, and then the "undeserving" threads pop up.

Jones is now ducking Gus, but if he agreed to a rematch, he'd be ducking Glover.

Welcome to Sherdog.

The rematch fight is now at the highest interest level it's going to ever be at. With zero risk to either fighter losing out on that pay day, by possibly losing to any other fighter while they "ramp up" with a few fights like you suggested.

And that rematch is more interesting to the fans than any other fight either Jones or Gustafsson could have with anyone else.

They pretty much just had the FoTY in what was probably the most entertaining title defense the UFC has seen. You don't just throw situations like that away unless you are not business smart.

All current 205 contenders will have their shot. This rematch needs to happen now if both fighters want to milk as much money from their first fight's performance as possible.

So say the rematch happens immediately and Gus loses again. Then what happens to Gus? He is the same age as Jones but has already lost to him twice. Where does the UFC go with Gus then? Another rematch? It turns into Edgar V2.

Let both of them rake some wins; the hype won't go away if Dana markets it correctly.

TS forgets that UFC is a entertainment medium period.

Gus VS Bones 2 is in big demand right now...Dana loves him some rematches if it brings $$$$$ regardless of rankings.

I won't be shocked if it happens.

By that logic, if they take a fight and win, fight again and Gus loses, how is the situation different besides being 6 months further down the line?

The Cain-JDS rematch and Jones-Gus rematches are two different things. Jones-Gus while Jones won in the eyes of the majority won barely and close decisions should warrant immediate rematches especially if no other fighter has even come close to doing as well as Gus did against Jones. There should be an immediate rematch because you can make an argument Gus won and because I doubt Glover would be nearly as well.

The reason for no rematch?

The PPV buys from Sweden must have been low.

the thing i hate about ufc is its more entertainment than a sport.rankings really have not as much weight as ppv buys

What if Gus loses to some nobody though, before he even gets a rematch? Even more money lost.

it's a good thing you made another thread about it...
