i was listening to a podcast with Joe and Schaub a couple of weeks ago and they mentioned Golovkin doing some sort of kettle bell wrist workout

I did some research and I've found several people saying he works out his wrists a lot...but I haven't found any actual videos or workouts that he actually does

Could anybody fill me in on some of his wrist excercises?

Or any wrist excercises in general

I've seen clips on his FB of him with his forearm resting on the ring while he sat on a chair. He was knuckle down and holding a pretty heavy looking kettle bell. He would then turn his wrist over and move the weight back from side to side- palm up- roll- Palm down.

are we talking about forearms curls? anyone know what are the benefits of working out wrists? (stabilizing your wrist during a punch?)

What I personally do are hold 30 pound dumbbells over my knees with my wrists on my knees, then do "curls". I don't know how common an exercise that is but I've met tons of MAs who do it.

The best wrist exercise (and shoulders, and hips) in the world is to take a training sword and start hitting a target with it a few hundred times a day, as god and our ancestors intended.

I do the same but I pretty much only do reverse wrist curls.

Funny, I also do "nutral grip reverse wrist curls". I turn a 15lbs dumbbell sideways and grab the weight parts of the dumbbell. It's similar to holding the handle of a vertical hammer or sword in both hands. I also found it works best to keep a little space between the webbing of my thumb and the weight. It's similar to how you grip a katana, and I actually call them "dragon's mouth wrist curls".

It sounds stupid but it really helps with me win the top roll game when arm wrestling.

are these really important workouts for boxing though? why is he focused on it

Because at least I fuck my wrists up regularly and I don't have anything close to the power of Golovkin so working on your forearms might help

I doubt he focuses on it, I imagine this is just a two minute exercise at the end of a long day.

Less prone to damaging the wrist and increases stability/durability when punching thus creates a stronger punch thats less likely to be injured upon impact.
