I didn't say you were right or wrong, I said your post was irrelevant. You didn't argue in favour or against that guy's position, aside from saying pressurising lungs has 'potential for harm'. Bancel was asked directly about this patent on Fox but did not confirm or deny.

I think we can all work out that ventilators will have side effects Every treatment known to man has side effects, and the more extreme the treatment, the greater those side effects. Even aspirin kills.

Some idiotic politician pretending that ventilators were killing people is beyond dumb, though, and replies such as this discredit everyone arguing in good faith against the Covid response.

Back then, people were coming in to hospitals with pneumonia-like symptoms, with lungs that didn't have the capacity to operate sufficiently. Putting people on ventilators too soon is never gonna be a great idea, but the stress hospitals were working under while ding-dongs pretended it was a hoax probably plays into some decisions that aren't perfect with hindsight.

Given this thread is full of Captain Hindsight superheroes, perhaps your post is not so outlandish - but it's still pretty silly.

A lot of people (chuds, antivaxxers, loons, etc) were outright dehumanized, threatened, literally had their livelihoods taken away, and worse… the onslaught of propaganda leveled at anyone who questioned literally any facet of the official messaging or policies has been relentless, and it changed people.

It's a good post, because a) it shows you probably have confirmation bias given your historical opinions but also b) you're not totally deluded and have legitimate self-awareness.

That probably sounds patronising as fuck, but I don't mean it that way.

I just have a mega low opinion of your average CTer, but I don't have an issue with challenging mainstream narratives.

Sometimes you know you're being lied to. For example, the Hillsborough tragedy, where soccer fans were blamed for serious errors on behalf of the police and stadium management - sometimes you KNOW you're being fed shit, and sometimes it takes 50 years before there's a real trial - and even then no one gets punished.

But for me, the conspiracies that happen around us are mundane as fuck, kinda obvious in nature, and I've had that confirmed by the fact that even hardened CTers aren't interested in financial fraud and stock exchange abuse in the same way they are more fantastical narratives about world-ending or world-changing happenings that aren't actually true, real, or (at worst) orchestrated. There's no big brain behind any of this. They got things wrong, but that's easy to say in hindsight.

I won't defend to the death the perfection of the response to Covid - but I'm able to accept that some really shitty mistakes were probably well intentioned.

Anyone mentions Gates, Soros or Clinton to me, and the conversation is dead.
