Social GoldenWolf's COVID Vaccine/Lockdown Protest megathread

Is this reasonable? or a slippery slope?

I see. There's a definite sense of weirdness over there, man, compared to most of Europe. We were pretty much in lockstep but it seems like North America and Australia have just bolted out of the gates and are now way further over the line than Europe.

I split time in Idaho and California. The US has become two vastly different places. There is not much weirdness in Idaho. California has lost its mind.

Spending as much time as I can in Outerbanks of North Carolina. Descendants of pirates...no bullshit going on there.

What, you mean the end of flu season? I'd stick my neck out here and say that yes, just like in 2020 and 2021, when flu season ended in spring the cases noticeably came down.

The weird one for me, is why the cases have shot up during summer, this year, when they didn't last year.

In UK terms, its because we've been testing 250-500k people a day - the majority with the notoriously unreliable LFTs. When last summer, it was more like 20k a day as we were only testing the sympatomatic.

Personally, I think countries have spent the summer inflating case numbers as much as possible with unreliable LFTs, to encourage more people to get the jab. Whether or not you think that's a good thing, is personal opinion. I can see why they would do that, personally - it would hardly be good for business to see cases coming down naturally. There is a financial benefit to having sky-high cases during the vaccine rollout.
The only problem with your clown show theory is that deaths have been keeping a steady ratio to case numbers (this is certainly the case in the US), so unless you think they are stuffing the body bags with mannequins your theory has a slight hole...

Most people really do need to understand that they are goofs.

I'm doing you a service here.

Yeah I guess deaths have kind of been similar here, keeping at a pretty steady level that the government seems to have accepted as being the standard expected level more or less. I think the same goes for hospitalizations more or less too. Hopefully they continue to accept this because shit is certainly not getting any better than this ratio. This needs to be the norm.

So you have "as much chance of dying from the vaccine as you do from covid"? So then what the hell is the purpose of getting vaccinated??

My country made it mandatory for certain workers, it results in shorter quarantine times if I travel, certain countries require you to be vaccinated to travel. The Flu shot doesn't stop people getting the flu , but they get it done all the time because it lessens the symptoms. We are all going to get covid at some point in our lives and I can't confirm whether I have had it previously because my country doesn't do anti body tests. If I am vaccinated my life returns to near normal, if I don't it doesn't. If I catch covid I will have a lesser infection.

All vaccinations are a form a pre infecting your body to create an immune response to prevent having a severe form of the disease. They don't all stop you having anything at all, they just cause you to choose when you potentially suffer the symptoms and lessen what occurs.

Get vaccinated, don't get vaccinated it doesn't really matter. Trying to say one group will automatically die, have life long long boosters and that the vaccinated spread the disease more etc is just dumb. The majority of the population in most countries is now vaccinated and the death rate from covid has severely dropped. It's been nearly a year now and this vaccine is one of the most tested vaccines ever. Why run the risk that a virus potentially created in a lab might have long term effects ? I would rather the vaccine made to prevent symptoms than the virus created to spread and be studied.

I wouldn't instantly die from HIV due to medical treatments available but I still don't want to get it if I can avoid it.

The National School Boards Association sent a letter Thursday to President Joe Biden complaining that school board members feeling the heat are actually victims of "a form of domestic terrorism and hate crimes."

The letter demands that the Justice Department, the FBI, and the Department of Homeland Security intervene to stop the angry parents, using such tools as “the PATRIOT Act in regards to domestic terrorism, the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act,” and “the Violent Interference with Federally Protected Rights statute.”

In order to justify this genuinely insane crackdown on rowdy people at school board meetings, the letter cites a rather unimpressive handful of cases where people were hurt or arrested or disruptive at meetings, or where school board members ended meetings rather than face an angry crowd of parents. It shouldn’t even have to be said, but none of these things — even the ones involving criminal behavior — constitute terrorism. Are we really supposed to turn this into a homeland security matter and curtail people’s constitutional rights just because someone inappropriately shouted “sieg heil” at a board meeting to mock a Michigan school board’s supposedly authoritarian behavior?

aren't these also deemed "peaceful protests"? They should be...
